Takeover News/Rumours

It wasn’t unexpected though and any budgeting for gate money would be minimal in the short term even if supporters were allowed to attend, the percentage, as per season tickets is around a quarter of the stadium. It would be pretty easy to put something in the sale price based on forecasted attendance and should it improve then a dividend of sorts would be paid the the seller.

The Covid thing is just a complete smokescreen and if that is being put up as the excuse and Barnes is swallowing it then he must like being taken for a ride as he has been on this merry go round for a little too long.

There was always a possibility of a second spike in winter but there was quite a lot of confidence, until recently, that fans would be back in grounds by October. I don't think it was expected that there'd be more lockdowns by the end of September and that fans might not be back till March.

I take your point about having a price that changes depending on whether fans get back, as you say that value can be quantified quite easily. But now we're in a situation where without a bail out (which no one knows what it would look like or where it would come from) the whole league might stop, clubs might go bust. I might be wrong but that feels like a major uncertainty that couldn't be quantified as easily, and that has recently become a lot more likely than it felt a month ago. Some buyers would push ahead with it (as the Charlton owner has) but equally I wouldn't blame someone for thinking "hang on, never mind indemnities, let's just wait this one out for a couple of months until we get some more certainty".

He hears stuff, definitely. Possibly he's overoptimistic about some of it and the when of it.
I am not overoptimistic, i am just facing up to the changes that's going on, they have got my head fucked at the minute
Sounds as though he is not currently being fed any information.
Wonder what Bob thinks about Nick Barnes being a ITK gadgie? Who is the most ITK though? [cue ructions on!].....
I know Nick very well, he is OK, but i think this is all being managed badly.
No mate, if you can get Vauxie and Gilly out of your arse you will be able to stand up.

Any up to date info for us to chuckle at tonight ya old soak
Some wanker on here got them both banned, i wish you could meet either of them, and say that face to face. be interesting indeed.

If there is a buyer and I have my doubts then I guess it works for them, strangulating Donald as he runs out of cash and things to sell to make up for the shortfall, but that only works if we are in the upper echelons of the league. If they wait too long the pound signs will appear in Donald’s eyes.

Still don't believe anything is ongoing, and even if it is, it has little impact on right now. Transfer window closes soon, we can't really offer any more wages due to the cap and that won't change performances. If someone really wanted it, I'm certain we would have heard some rumblings rather than just one line by Barnes who has know f all in the past.

I wonder when the pressure from the fanzines will start to ramp up? I am really disappointed by ALS/roker report/wise men say in all of this.

Prior to the Nick Barnes tweet there was a definite ramping up of pressure on Donald from the Echo and other publications. The message from Barnes has stopped that but hasn’t stopped the fanzines putting little snidey messages about it being a fakeover etc rather than actually putting pressure on people for answers.

Of course the pandemic has probably halted things but we were mid pandemic when it all started and Charlton have managed a takeover so I fail to believe that.

The longer is goes on the more it looks like something to keep people quiet until the transfer window shuts and again we don’t spend a penny.

I know RAWA polled people about increasing the pressure, where are we with that?
Echo should be doing this. Asking for an update. Front page stuff too

Why you shifting the conversation somewhere else? You’re claiming he’s doing huge amounts of research on us. I’m merely commenting that his last interview wasn’t exactly “extensive”. A bloke in the pub could have “researched” it in 5 mins man.

Why is he doing it? Who knows. Maybe he’s trying to buy us, maybe he’s not. That’s not what we were personally discussing though
Leave it there eh, I was merely speculating on motive. He may just be a fruit loop.

End of October now. I will be dead before this goes through i reckon
The news is, there is no news. What sensible person would be involved in taking over a football club at the this time of great uncertainty, two thirds of league clubs could be out of business by the end of the season. Someone might take a chance if they were given it for nothing, or next to nothing but I can think of no other rational reason to do so. Football has traditionally been a working class sport, what chances that clubs are treated like mines, shipyards, steelworks, while cricket, rugby, tennis etc get the money, look no further then police and NHS pay rises.

One of the blokes from FPP has just taken over a club and Charlton have just been taken over so this line of "who would take over a football club at the minute" is bollocks

Fair enough, I am losing interest at an alarming rate so didn’t know about the examples given. It is dtill a hell of a risk thst less and less people will be prepared to take. Try a different hobby.

And I've seen him say he knows Nick Barnes, Jack Ross and Derek McInnes. Just seems very very unlikely that one bloke from Sunderland would know all these people.
Doesn't Bob work in the world of football though? If so not unreasonable for him to know these people. Although I believe he exaggerates his relationship with these people and classes people he has met as friends.

I don't know, does he? I asked who he is. No one knows. I could create a fake account and claim I knew lots of people. I have met Kevin Ball, John Mensah, Stewart Donald and others. I don't know them though

Do they? Who are vauxie and Bob then?
I know who he is. Not personally, but I've spoke a couple of times at talk ins with Methven at Queen Vic and Steels. Seems a nice bloke.

Does he? There’s a lot of assumptions being played on by certain individuals. As supporters we all have a connection to football.
