Takeover News/Rumours

The takeover that was going to be (most likely) completed by the beginning of the season is now unlikely to be completed anytime soon because of the current climate.

Corona only happened in the last month apparently.

Donald.

To be fair it is possible that the current upturn in cases and, crucially, the greater uncertainty about when fans will be back, could cause issues. It had been hoped for October, after the recent rise in cases it might be well into next year. That then raises the possibility of the season not even completing, and thus clubs potentially not surviving. I know there's indemnities and things, but recently things have got a lot worse in terms of outlook. If there was a takeover in the offing I'm not surprised it may have hit a bump that, whilst not unforeseeable earlier in the summer, certainly wasn't expected

Well... you can read it one of two ways - one is that it's still on course because he hasn't heard it's off, the other is that it won't meet the original timescales he was given, so has changed slightly in that regard.

I don't believe Nick Barnes has any knowledge he hasn't passed on. He is just guessing based on previous conversations until he gets another call from his source close to the action, Donald Stewart.

It's fairly obvious he's just basing it on his own opinion and the current climate at present.

As a reporter though you'd think he'd be trying to get an answer from SD on what progress is or isn't happening. Perhaps the club don't want anything to leak at all this time due to the shit show with the Dell Boys last time.

Pretty embarrassing he hasn't to be honest

We can only hope. People adamant it’s not happening maybe proved correct but I just think there’s got to be something to it.

I believe NB in that its progressing but he obviously doesn't know if SD will ultimately sign on the dotted line. I think he will and that now is still a good time to buy a football club as a few deals have happened recently despite Covid.

I wonder when the pressure from the fanzines will start to ramp up? I am really disappointed by ALS/roker report/wise men say in all of this.

Prior to the Nick Barnes tweet there was a definite ramping up of pressure on Donald from the Echo and other publications. The message from Barnes has stopped that but hasn’t stopped the fanzines putting little snidey messages about it being a fakeover etc rather than actually putting pressure on people for answers.

Of course the pandemic has probably halted things but we were mid pandemic when it all started and Charlton have managed a takeover so I fail to believe that.

The longer is goes on the more it looks like something to keep people quiet until the transfer window shuts and again we don’t spend a penny.

I know RAWA polled people about increasing the pressure, where are we with that?

OK supposing he's done superficial research. What does he stand to gain? Why hasn't Donald said he's a tyre kicker and isn't involved in the so called takeover?

Why you shifting the conversation somewhere else? You’re claiming he’s doing huge amounts of research on us. I’m merely commenting that his last interview wasn’t exactly “extensive”. A bloke in the pub could have “researched” it in 5 mins man.

Why is he doing it? Who knows. Maybe he’s trying to buy us, maybe he’s not. That’s not what we were personally discussing though

It wasn’t unexpected though and any budgeting for gate money would be minimal in the short term even if supporters were allowed to attend, the percentage, as per season tickets is around a quarter of the stadium. It would be pretty easy to put something in the sale price based on forecasted attendance and should it improve then a dividend of sorts would be paid the the seller.

The Covid thing is just a complete smokescreen and if that is being put up as the excuse and Barnes is swallowing it then he must like being taken for a ride as he has been on this merry go round for a little too long.
