Red Dead 2 - No Spoilers

Almost finished this now, just the epilogue to go. Anyone go back and play the first one after finishing this? Kinda fancy doing it just wonder does it hold up at all.

I've started. The big difference for me is that despite 2 being the bigger and more beautiful, 1 is better atmospherically.

Been waiting to play this for the last 18 months and unfortunately it’s a disappointment so far  Not sure if it’s because I recently played The Last Of Us 2 but the gameplay feels really clunky, I’m also completely lost when it comes to having a gunfight (particularly when on the horse). The scenery is stunning and has been the best thing about it so far.

If you’re not enjoying it by this point I’d argue it doesn’t get much better then.

It's probably the best game I've ever played. The realism and graphics are immense. The map is huge. Hundreds of random and unique player interactions and side quests. Everything seems customisable. The map and player(s) characters develop and change over time. Each mission is unique and different to the last. Each player choice seems to have an effect on the story, and there's so many back stories. I'm sure if you only follow the campaign (with no side quests) it takes 13 hours to complete.

It seems to really make the player feel like they're in the game, don't think I've played a game like it. Just started again for the third time and onto Chapter 3, still discovering things I didn't in my first two runs.
The thing that irritated me more than anything else was Dutch. How does someone that stupid manage to lead a gang of outlaws AND survive through the game? At times it felt like the keystone cops with some of the stupidity. Going through it the second time I found myself staying away from the camp, doing side missions and grinding through other stuff rather than the story line. Oh and I tried to just shoot the spluttering bastard that gives you TB but the game wouldn't let me...

John and many other characters speak about Dutch's change throughout the game and that he never gets his hands dirty, that's probably how he survived. He's almost like a cult leader. His character is one of the biggest character developments and it leads really well onto RDR1 (as RDR2 is obviously the prequel).

Really enjoyed this is in the end, thought Arthur was a right wanker at first  You really grow to like him.

On the epilogue now but have found it pretty tedious so far, having said that I’ve just left the ranch. Is it worth persevering with?

Just finished this(Pneumonia has had me housebound so finally got round to it).
Enjoyed the happier ending with John this time round haha thought Arthur was abit of a bland character like but the amount of detail in the game itself is absolutely mind boggling

Just finished RDR2 today. What a game.
Really want to go back and play the first. Did you end up doing so in the end!? Does it hold up!? There's talk of a remaster on the way

Nah I didn’t in the end, it’s only on ps now or whatever it’s called, I can’t get that cause I have a US psn account but no US credit card

I got the game late 2019 but only got about 10% of the way through it. However, since early December 2020 I’ve been giving it another go.
I can’t begin to describe just how brilliant this game is; it’s more like a movie, but with the depth of a serial tv show like Breaking Bad. The characters were interesting and multi dimensional, the dialogue was often witty and nuanced, and the scenery was breathtaking. I’ve started again, only this time I’m going to try to experience as many of the hidden Easter Eggs as I can. 10/10

I spent so much time just knocking around camp listening to conversations and playing poker, at least in the first couple chapters.

I did too, and there were so many side missions I had to leave behind as the story advanced. Like the fossil collector or the guy who wanted you to post fish to him. And where’s Gavin?
