I seem to remember in the 90s they were all bulky as fuck but appear to be less so and more physically fit now.
I was always far more wary of the little fellas who would know a bit (and could catch you if you legged it).

Who was the gadgy back in the day with the false hand? Handy as fuck him, by all accounts.
Owen Murray. Was a sensai who sporadically took classes at Sendai when I went. You never messed with his stump when training it hurt very! 😂

Downeys bouncers were always the worst in town IMO ... Boulevard / Marlowes / KU club

In the late 90s was always told the hardest bouncer in town was a small skinny lad with pony tail who did the doors on Sly Mcflys (holmeside ) on his own , seemed a nice bloke also . It’s the little uns you have to watch😀
The little c@nt with no neck who worked the door in Bentleys was a proper tool! Fat little fucker! Loved his job of booting people and throwing them out of doors with his mates! I think he only had three brain cells TBH!

Arseholes mate. Years ago in Beach after a match my mate got warned to stop signing Sunderland songs but did again 10 mins later so he got jumped on with a choke hold, dragged outside and four had him face down on the pavement (one of them with his knee on the side of his face, he was a little skinny lad and not resisting). My mate was left in a heap outside and they all came piling in for me and our other mate. I said I'm leaving and as I walked out one of them pushed me from behind, so I turned to run at him and he spat at me then they dived behind the glass doors, locking them then stood smiling/blowing kisses and waving at me, picks. Saw him a few weeks later on another night when he seemed to be by himself and said 'spit at me now you wanker' he couldn't get away quick enough.
No excuse for picking on the deaf.

The best bouncer I've ever seen was Jimmy G from Hylton Castle

Seen him on the doors for years and never seen him throw a punch. Great mediator and hard as nails if needed

Used to work in Finos where George Pearson worked alongside Bobby Bewick and another lad surname Wilson, think his name was Bobby too but may be mistaken.
George was the best at talking down any heat, was a lovely bloke with Bobby being the muscle of it did go sideways!
