Local lockdown

Aye, in this thread I cleared it up, saying shouldn't basically means don't. Then mocked those who go "says shouldn't, not can't, so I will". It was the same with pubs. Don't go. Erm, if you don't want me to go, close them, otherwise I'm going. Advice is there for a reason afterall. But anyway, as has bean proven, many don't listen anyway so everyone will just crack on again anyway so nowts the matter.
I assumed it was a ban on meeting people outside your immediate household. Which would make more sense if stopping virus was number one goal. Calling it advice is leaving restaurateurs and publicans high and dry.
So if people want to meet their family and friends they can up to the rule of 6.
I assume there is data showing the transmission is coming mainly from people mingling in homes.

Can see the Tory MPs have been pretty quiet on this (unless I've missed it). Will be a stick to beat Labour or they will take the credit, but time will tell.

As usual Hancock lied, the councils asked for extra powers, MP's asked for fuck all. People really overestimate the powers of a back bench MP especially one whos party isn't and hasn't been in power for over a decade... As you say its the tories politicising it. Also horden 'labour' club has no link to the party. Why hes blaming an MP who's staff have helped local business and constituents over the crisis is beyond me. Maybe try blaming the ones in power?

Broke the law this morning dropping my daughter off at my mothers. Spoke to two others who’ve done the same.

The curtain twitching twins will be having a field day today grassing people up
Lets hope there's enough hospital beds for when all these grandparents start contracting the virus. A visit from a copper will be the last of their worries then.

What are parents to do who have no other means of getting their kids to school and themselves to work at the same time?

The said three main sources, pissed up folk, houses and sport. Plenty of pubs already saying they'll be following the advice and not allowing different households in together.
My mothers quite fiery and said she’d love to the police fine her for providing childcare to her granddaughter

I'm sure the police have dealt with more fearsome people than your mam tbf. Not like a few choice words means the plod will go "actually, forget it, no fine after all" :lpl:

Only they haven’t the man power to police the grandparents breaking rules due to having no numbers.

The NE PCC said this morning on 5 live

Some are opting to pay for child care. Some switching to part time. Others are working from home/more flexible hours. Others hoying leave in. However, there will be some who are literally snookered, and you can understand those just doing what they need to do. But there won't be as many as being made out, some saying they are snookered won't be, its just they don't want to make any of the changes/sacrifices listed above.
