Local lockdown

Over 60,000 in the Uk mate

800,000 die in uk on average every year. You saying this is more important than deaths from cancer pneumonia heart disease car accidents etc?

Or do we ban all car travel cos someone got knocked over round the corner?

Whilst a lot of the rules don't make too much sense, I do think some people are being deliberately obtuse regarding them.

The reason you can't do things with your family in their homes but can go to work/the pub around strangers is because social distancing can, in theory, be enforced in those places. Whereas they can't in people's homes.

I'll stick to them, even if others aren't. I'll do my part. It'll be a bit shit not to be able to go out drinking with my friends, but I don't have childcare to worry about and I'm WFH so I'll keep in touch on whatsapp/the PlayStation or whatever. Whilst taking the dog out on long walks to keep active. Small sacrifices, we aren't being forced to stay inside.

Well done but the main issue on this thread is something that you don’t even have to worry about. Childcare.

It’s completely impossible for me and my wife to manage due to our jobs and family situation.

Of course we will do our bit and not visit mates, or even go to family members outside of childcare, but we are absolutely knackered if my mam (not single household) can’t pick up and drop off the kids to school.
Will those stupid ***** who organised the football match be along to organise another and see how many more they can infect?

The big bunch of stupid shithouses.

Hopefully there are some serious repercussions for this place.

The match was the fuel though wasn’t it. Without that you aren’t going to get all those people crammed in the club house
Not really.
It's down to people's common sense (or lack of it).
Just cos there's a match on, why feel the need to 'cram' into a clubhouse?
If people cant be trusted to be responsible IN THE MIDST OF A DEADLY PANDEMIC then what hope is there?

Yeah. They could sit on tables next to each other in a pub. You can only sit at a table with members of your household though. For example if I wanted to legally meet my mam, she could sit on the table next to me in the pub but unable to meet at either house or garden. Hideous rules

Would you meet your mum at home?

Are you going to meet her at the pub?

Even had that event not taken place mate, I suspect we’d be in the same position (although it didn’t help and action should be taken). I can’t help but feel that the real reason behind the lockdown for the NE is the total failure of testing.

Whole of Lancashire going under same restrictions. That's despite most of the county having had them in place already. Shows that majority will take no notice.

Just a small aside, but that means having to pay members of staff to carry out the clubs, which can be difficult with a stretched budget.
True, I would expect central government to foot the bill. It is the body that has stopped the grandparents offering childcare.
Nope. Like WHED said, if you want to see your Mam at the pub, sit on separate tables.
Nope. That is what I originally thought. However, that is just advice. Up to 6 can meet in public. Against Government advice but it is only advice.

But, but, the death rate is low.

So it's "nowt to worry about".

People moaning about this lockdown will be moaning even more if they couldn't get a hospital bed come winter.

So today my daughter and 3 pals have had to get on a packed bus to school because I am not allowed to give them all a lift.

After school one of the other parents picks them up, but now they all have to get the bus.

How is this a safer way to stop spreading this virus?

Aye, in this thread I cleared it up, saying shouldn't basically means don't. Then mocked those who go "says shouldn't, not can't, so I will". It was the same with pubs. Don't go. Erm, if you don't want me to go, close them, otherwise I'm going. Advice is there for a reason afterall. But anyway, as has bean proven, many don't listen anyway so everyone will just crack on again anyway so nowts the matter.

It would be if buses had seating restrictions so social distance was adhered to. Fair play for trying to play the game though marra. Just crack on as normal I say if it's not safer.

Broke the law this morning dropping my daughter off at my mothers. Spoke to two others who’ve done the same.

The curtain twitching twins will be having a field day today grassing people up

And people still thinking this shit is legit.

How many have died?

If we didn't lock down in April there'd have been many more deaths from covid, in addition to the 800,000 that die on average every year already. The NHS would have been completely overwhelmed which would lead to many more deaths from cancer and other diseases and everyone in care homes would be dead. Hope this helps.

Our lasses mam has said she is too worried to do school pick ups and drop offs with the rules as they are so we are nackered. Its absolutely stupid.
