Would you give up your high paid, secure job if taken into a room and told you had to cease and desist or be escorted off the premises? I have been given this story from 2 people close to him and me (small world) and in my view, yes, it makes him a better fan than me, because I wouldn't sacrifice so much personally, and I doubt most here would, let alone actually have.

I think it's a fair point about the date, but instead of just saying that he should come out and confirm whether he's heard anything since or whether he's still giving people hope based on what he heard weeks ago

Giving dates is a daft idea. The only guarantee is that, in any takeover, it will take at least twice as long as you thought it would.

Season start was assumed to be 12 Sept at the time. TBF we need to give until 12 Sept before calling Barnes or his source as bullshitters. The “much sooner” prediction has been proved wrong.

Also note "with a view". That's very far from a set deadline. It's more, we'd like to get it done by the start of the season if we can. People need to get it into their heads - there are no fixed dates in takeover negotiations.

As GOM says, you can't really put much stock in the actual dates, even if he thought 12th September sort of time initially it could easily slip. I just wish he wasn't arguing semantics over the date, but was saying whether he'd actually heard anything concrete that it's still progressing (as opposed to simply not having heard its fallen through).
