It’ll be an interesting one. You’d think we have someone, if not a couple, who’ll be able to step up and make a ton. But equally I can also envisage a total collapse. Great test match cricket again. What a treat these two series are turning out to be!

Michael Vaughan making some interesting (controversial) comments about the bowing attack. Suggesting Archer isn't the 90mph bowler we thought he was. Compared him to Angus Fraser at one point(!)

Former England captain Michael Vaughan: "The fact England had to turn to Ben Stokes exposed a couple of England's bowlers - I think it certainly exposed Jofra Archer.

"Archer bowled five overs of what I'd call Gus Fraser, no disrespect. He was bowling 82mph, pitched-up bowling. I don't think Archer is in the team to deliver that style of bowling.

"Throughout this summer he is averaging 85mph with the ball in hand and maybe he isn't that quick, quick bowler we thought he was.

"Maybe England have to assess his style of bowler and what he's delivering on a consistent basis more than we thought he was going to be.

"All this talk of 90mph and it's going to be fizzing past the batsman's noses on a regular basis, maybe he can't bowl like that."

Does he have a point? Or is he just being his media personality that many find grating?

Michael Vaughan is a self publicist and a penis. #onon

The Archer situation is interesting as he looks down on pace. Some are suggesting that it’s not effort but his action that where it doesn’t click it’s not happening, vs Wood who relies on brute strength

we also need perspective. He’s having a bad spell, but still taking wickets at 30.

Genuinely think they have too many already. I don’t trust our batting, particularly under pressure, and we have a long tail.

And it will spin
This!
Stokes, Pope and Buttler are all a place too high and the top 2 are walking ducks at times. Root isn't (or doesn't appear to be) the batsman he was pre-captaincy and the tail is far too long

Not sure the team selection is right here - unchanged in back to back tests just because we won the series against WI? Is Bess the best option we have for spin? (Sorry @Ghfd )

Wouldn't disagree with any of that. I think Archer has maybe been told to make the 90+ ball the surprise weapon and, as you say, he's still taking wickets....

Stokes and Buttler are a place too high I agree. As is Root. I’d be happy with Pope at 5 if Stokes didn’t exist
