I would think if it's going this way the EPL will compensate BeIN £X for the loss of potential audience, and take KSA out of the MENA package and then sell the KSA an individual package at £X+Y and make a bucket load in the process .... ching ching
You know life is not as simple as that.

Even if you are right that will take months/years to sort out....AS's court case related to recapitalisation of Barclays back in 2008!

Funny if Saudis need to wait 2 years but Ashley sells them to the yank as wont wait.

Be having mags begging Ashley not to sell

I know it's not that simple was just an outline.
It only takes years if its not agreed and becomes a court process, if all parties agree it takes as long as it takes the lawyers to draught the agreement.

funny for you not so much for me

This is infinitely more complex than you make out!

Why would BEIN agree? They want that business and will want huge compensation if they lose that market. Who pays the compensation? Do relegated clubs pay also? Most clubs are running at a loss already. The Premier League is just a grouping and it doesn't have that level of cash.

Each rights sale has been by sealed bids - I guess DAZN, Netflix, Amazon would be interested but if they cannot be assured their rights are secured they won't bid. The Saudi TV station or Saudi Telecom become sole bidders, but then I recall the failed bid of Manchester United by BSKYB due to unfair relationship BSKYB would have for future TV deals (there is a huge report on this but see summary at Telecom (70% owner by PIF) and main TV channel state owned!

It is hugely messy. Even better the uncertainty will continue for months and months.

Not wanting to be captain obvious but if you had me blocked you would not have seen my post to inspire you to ask someone to tell me to fuck off.
I can tell you to fuck off if you’d prefer it. It’s really no problem. Always happy to help.
I saw that article in the Telegraph this morning, strange that their MP who was so vocal about Mike Ashley didn’t think this a significant enough issue to put her name to a cross party response 🤷🏼
She’s “looking forward to working with the new owners” I thought labour weren’t too happy with human rights abusers?

I'm not trying to make out it isn't complicated, I agree with you i'm sure it's massively complicated it, I just don't know what the complexities are to speak about them.

I don't know they would agree, i'm hypothesising that they might agree to it because losing the KSA audience and getting that loss compensated financially might be preferred to losing the KSA audience and not getting any money back for it.

I don't think the EPL will be obligated to compensate them either, they sold them the rights to broadcast in the MENA area and they still have the rights to do so. The fact that the Saudis have kicked them out of their country legally (probably trumped up charge) is not the fault of the EPL. I would imagine the EPL can just say that's an issue between you and KSA not you and us.
I think the EPL would only be obliged to compensate them if they failed to provide the product.

Just my thoughts anyway, not speaking from a position of authority on the subject.

Hopefully we'll find out one way or the other in the next couple of weeks, needs putting to bed.

This is purely conjecture but I wonder if they passed the O&D weeks or even months ago, and then the piracy issue blew up, and now the PL don't know which way to turn.
Nah, if the O&D had been passed surely that's the penultimate hurdle, the last thing being transfer of funds. Both Ashley and the buying side would have trumpeted the success. Once they've passed the test, is it possible for the PL to renege on that?

What's more likely imo the PL are using the leverage to crack down on piracy and get the most money as possible for their broadcast rights. BEIN paying for all but KSA + Arabsat paying for KSA, will be more than the current BEIN deal, surely?

I wouldn’t bother wasting my time hypothesizing about something I know nothing about tbh

is that not what a hypothesis is, a supposition or explanation based on limited knowledge or facts?
If I new the facts it wouldn't by a hypothesis.
