First summer signing close - Parkinson.

You have to give them an amount of proximity. With 23 senior players they don’t even get the chance to play 11 on 11 in training. They spend all of their time off in other groups. If they’re good enough and show enough they will get minutes. If there are 23 senior pros in front of them they’d have to be outstanding to even get a chance. And as a consequence we’d miss out on players who may need a little more time to acclimatise - whilst discouraging generation after generation in our younger age groups.

While we Are outside of the PL we will always need to fight to carve out a selling point for our youth system. We probably need that if and when we get to the pl too. This is bigger than one season - and certainly more important than a small chance that we may need to give a few throwaway minutes to a young player who might not quite have enough to make it.

Unless we show we’re serious about committing to youth we'll lose the next lot as well.

Do you really think Phil Parkinson is gonna develop any of these young players? His job is on the line if we don’t go up and look at the way he handled January signing Scowen and Semenyo to take Robson and Kimpiokas spots. We have Embleton at the club and I’m gonna make a prediction that he doesn’t start more than 5 games next season with Parkinson in charge.

No. Nobody at the club is looking far enough ahead. That’s why we’ll inevitably end up with a squad size of 23+ and continue to waste money on mediocrity that sitS in the stand week after week. Doesn’t mean it’s right though. It’s just more dumb strategy from a very dumb club.

They’ve already missed the boat and it’s gonna take years to undo the damage. We could have coped with 1 year at this level but certainly not a minimum of 3. I think we’ll only see change when we see a new ownership come in. Hopefully they’ll put competent people in place in key areas of the club.
 
We will clearly sign a keeper and two centre halves. Almost everyone would agree we need two better forward options than Wyke and Grigg. None of those are positions we currently have kids to promote in. That’s five. Most would also argue some creativity Needed in midfield and Pace on wings as well as cover at lb. That’s 8. It sounds about right and we’ll obviously be trying to unload Grigg, McGeady and possibly Wyke and Leadbitter. Would still have room for some academy lads to step up imo.

That's another subject and I guess an example of 7-8 being too many.

There should be a plan put in place from the club and the manager has to follow it.

Yeah I agree.Hopefully it comes with new owners but at the moment there’s incompetence everywhere so the younger players have suffered.

Pacey striker with premier league experience. Been unlucky with injuries but ready for a good preseason. Free agent having been released from his former club.
Name rhymes with clotmore.
 
Parkinson was saying he wants to play a high tempo pressing game on Total Sport.

I will watch with a healthy dose of scepticism and just hope we don’t see another batch of small, immobile journeymen.
