Rerouting bt telephone/broadband cable

Looking to reroute our phone cable, the bt engineer has put it in a crazy pattern so looking to remove from wall and reroute. It doesn’t need disconnecting, anyone know of someone who could do this?

Dont know if still true but a few years back you werent allowed to move anything behind the nte5 master socket without a proper engineer

Get sorted @adam26?

I moved mine the other week. The cable comes into the dining room and the engineer had run it round half the room, through the doorframe, along the passage, through another doorframe and right round the living room. I already had an ethernet cable between the living room and dining room so there was no need for it. The cable was really horribly installed as well, looked awful.

Did a bit of reading on it and you're not supposed to move them, but it's not like BT keep a record of the location of the socket in your house. Just a case of being aware if anything does go wrong they're gonna know you've been f***ing about with it.

My socket is pretty much like this one:

I've fitted some ethernet sockets before and I was surprised how simple this was in comparison. I shortened the cable and put the two wires back in the same order and it works fine. No shitty cable through half the house and the hub is in a much better place too.

What’s stopping you moving this yourself ?
Just wires and connections, take photos of current condition and use YouTube if uncertain.

Don’t pay someone to do that for you, just buy some cleats if that’s what you are going to use and do it yourself, if not grab a openreach engineer and offer them 30 quid to do it when there not grafting, it’s honestly a price of piss and if you dont go through The cable with anything then you cannot go wrong
Did you not tell them where to run it when they put it in?! 😂
Youu I don’t get a choice these days, if it’s easy they will do it, but if you want it somewhere that will take a bit of time and effort they won’t do it unless you have paid for it to be put in a certain place
