Excess deaths back to normal

Good news indeed. The last week was even below the five year average. So after all we have gone through let’s not throw it away once the pubs open.

Excess deaths from liver failure about to go through the roof..........

They don't take the deaths to A&E marra.

But many of them die in A&E mate. All I'm saying is what she was saying. Very very quiet for the 'normal' A&E services over the past few months as 1) fewer on roads 2) fewer at work & 3) fewer out on lash.
So would they equal 150ish a day?real question
This could catch up with us down the line

It will. The number of referrals for various lumps etc has fallen by something like 80%. Those haven't gone away, they've just not been seen to

Hopefully the excess deaths will go down, as lots of people who would have died in the next couple of years have sadly passed away a bit sooner

"Good news"
It is , we are back at normal levels of death, we all have to to die at some point. The really bad news is that over the last few months over 60,000 have died before their time. However if we are back at the normal level of deaths then the balance has been restored, or don’t you agree?

Hang on man, I'd argue you have pulled a figure out the air, there will be ups and downs in this whole thing. Long way to go yet before celebrating anything

As callous as this might sound I wonder how much money that will save. At a time we are pumping money into the NHS any savings in the coming years will be much needed.

Before their time? Yes, some, but a far larger percentage have also been put out of their misery. I’ve said it multiple times but a significant proportion of COVID deaths are ‘natural’. A 95 year old, with severe dementia, bed ridden for the past year and fed food through a tube dies.... but because she had a few cold symptoms like a cough she goes down as a COVID death. The death figure is grossly misleading.

it's not, covid still finished her off but I know what you mean. An ex colleague went last week, officially covid but actually a blessing. He lived in Barney as well.

It’s more likely that it didn’t. As no post-mortem will be carried out we’ll never know. But being at deaths door for 12 months through old age and then finally passing is a fairly natural death. The fact she coughed and sneezed a few days before hand doesn’t make it a COVID death but it goes down as one because apparently she had symptoms... I think most people have symptoms at some point during the week!

sure the figures are still only people who have tested positive

Really? I thought it was anyone whose death certificate stated Covid as a possible cause of death and doctors were putting Covid down for anyone who had shown even the slightest symptom.
