FF7 Remake

No mate but the remake only covers the first area of the original.

Yeah I've heard that t's just the first section of the original. I always heard it gives you context playing the original that's all. I bought the original on PSN a month or so ago anyway but it might just become one of the games I download and never play

If you enjoy the remake then go back and play the original marra you will be able to get the context in reverse if that makes sense.

I'm gona wait until the price comes down regardless of which I play first. Never played a FF game. Just downloading 15 atm actually.

I appreciate the honesty. At the same time though by coming to games later I may have different expectations compared to someone who hasn't got older reference points.

The people who seem to be disappointed with the remake are people who were big fans of the original it seems. I might be the same when I finish it in a couple of days.

Try not to let us get in your head marra. ;)

Hopefully you enjoy it.

There’s some bits in the remake which are line for line the same and other major plot points which don’t exist in the original. Having played the original the new bits spoil it for me but only because I know the original plot. Newcomers seem to enjoy the remake more than fans of the franchise. If you enjoy the remake then I’d go back to the original. That said it’s aged significantly and you might find it tough to get into.

I've heard this one is different but never been into JRPGs so thought this more western one would be a gateway. Saying that I played around 50 hours of Persona 5 before I sacked it off

I couldn't play the original now. I love 'retro' gaming but it's aged terribly in terms of looks - especially compared to 8 or 9 which still stand up in my opinion. I mean it's almost 25 years old so it's hardly a surprise like, a lot of early PlayStation games have aged badly.

I don't think 8 looks good now but still like 9.love the animation style. 9 is my favourite of the whole series like.

Finally finished it.

I liked the expansions on the story.

I will buy future episodes.

Hated the combat for the most part. Cloud was fine, I only enjoyed playing as Tifa though.

Red should have been playable, I assumed he'd be there for a few battles not hours of story.

Side quests were shit.

I like that we're getting a new slant on the story.

Should have been called "Final Fantasy 7: Reboot"

Would have been "Baller AF" if Barratt had stayed dead.
The Shinra building is an absolute slog. It's sapping my will to continue just running through its endless boss fights and copy paste corridors. The forced two party approach is such a shit, artificial way to raise difficulty. This is not a patch on the original for me.
This. This. This.
