It’s end season now with unweighted points and go straight to playoffs. Number of teams in play offs is 4.
yeah i get that, but will there not be 12 clubs that want to play on?

us, tranmere, peterbro, doncaster, ipswich... struggling here now

And even worse that a club can vote for the season to end forthwith yet expect to play in play-offs.

They probably haven't twigged that this a complete double standard.

Fair enough vote to stop the league, but then you can't compete in any play offs .............. thats just crazy

It does make sense, you just don't agree with it. Both are rational views.

Back when it was allowed I could afford to eat out once or twice a week but not every night. As it is, all the play-off games are always televised while the average L1 game is not. The finances of playing play-off games is totally different to completing the regular season programme.

I imagine Sky will be chasing penalties (as seen in the PL and Championship) should they not be played as well.

You don't dictate the leagues rules based on the finances of a single club, that isn't rational at all. It is the job of the league to decide what is most fair and equal. The decision they have come to clearly isn't that.

That would be a fair criticism if we’d played all of our games and had not been promoted.

The reason it’s unfair isn’t because we didn’t get promoted, it’s because it can’t possibly be fair that everyone has played a different set of fixtures to determine who gets promoted/relegated.
Imagine defending how utterly shite Parkinson has been.

They won’t want to play on because of the cost for testing kits etc. We will be in league 1 next season (if it starts) for certain.

I’ve been calling a 14-9 vote to curtail for a while. I actually now think it’ll be 15-8

8 voting to play on: Oxford, Pompey, Fleetwood, Posh, Sunderland, Gills, Ipswich, Tranmere.

Bristol Rovers were also vocal about playing on. But when it comes to it, I don’t think they actually will.

Our squad is a complete mess with the amount out of contract and you know that our terrible recruitment staff won't have done a sufficient job in planning for it. Our signings will be last second again and be done on the cheap. The manager is a joke and the fans have already turned. As you say, we're going to be in trouble.
Well do a Leeds and float around in this league for like 5-6 years unless Donald fucks off. Utter disgrace

I know I keep using the same analogy, but did you vote “Leave” in the EU referendum? If so, did you vote in the European elections 18 months later? You if so, you voted to leave the EU then voted on how it should be run........ that’s just crazy.

At the end of the day, the clubs are voting for their preference, not providing an ultimatum. At this point in time for the teams in the play off positions, they can play another 8 games to try for 2nd place and then potentially have to play another 3 to get promoted if they have to settle for the play offs. Alternatively they can skip the next 8 games and go straight to a “win 3 games and get promoted” scenario. It’s a no brainier for them, regardless of how “unfair” it is.

I feel that whatever decision was made, whether play on, void the season or end the season now with PPG, then it should be across the entire football pyramid, including womens leagues. We have the Premier league and Championship playing on (obviously for financial reasons), League 1 ending with PPG (no idea about League 2) and non-leagues voiding the season. It's a joke.

I hope they do badly in the play offs and go bust... double standards in this sport are getting beyond a joke.. no integrity in this sport anymore

If they are choosing to end the season on average points then this model should be done to select the top three. Cancelling the season and restarting it with the play offs is a ridiculous contradiction.

League Two I am hearing is unanimous.
Only Forest Green voted to carry own. Of all Clubs in League Two they are the one club I will be pleased not to go back to.

Until it’s official not going to go mental.

Great. I can't wait to watch the long drawn out argument about how and when next season starts now. 🙄

very true. it should never have been an option. as if any club in the current league one standing, that happened to find itself in the top 6 after PPG, would vote to play on the season, knowing how tight it was. we'd do exactly the same thing. its not the clubs faults really, its the league for allowing this to happen. it should have been play on, or cancel. said it from the start, as did millions

I knew it was going to happening, but still hasn't stopped me swearing at the computer screen. Double standards all around.
