Independence Day - Yank chest-beating chod from start to end.

The film I hate most, there are "worse" films obviously, but this could have been written by a 9 year old.
They make plenty of good stuff, but this for me sums up everything I hate about Hollywood.

rubbish. its class. socialist values triumphing over capitalism. its a very accurate portrayal of how solidarity and collective action strengthens democratic institutions against exploitation. its a fantastic film

1917, well made but boring.
Dunkirk, well made but didn't get the sheer scale of it for me, looked more like a couple of coachloads of the beaches.

I haven't seen 1917 yet but will watch it anyway (will probably 'lose' even more on a small screen).

I agree with you about Dunkirk - for me it was a bit 'Meh' - the BBC did a docudrama a good few years ago (a youngish Benedict Cumberbatch was in it) - I though it was a lot more watchable.

My first GP was at Dunkirk (army doctor) - took him years to recover from what he experienced (if he ever did) - he very rarely spoke about his experiences. I don't think the film went anywhere near capturing what must've been close to hell on earth.
