Wrestling - Part 3

The fact they've made the MITB match a cinematic match is kinda cool.

Oh wow. The entire PPV only lasted 90 mins as opposed to the usual 3 hours.

I'm going to assume these 2 things are linked. I hate the cinematic idea, its just awful. But I guess, with no crowds etc, I won't say its a bad idea right now. They gotta do *something*

This wasn't cinematic in the way the Undertaker/AJ match was. It was simply an extremely PG version of an attitude era hardcore match. It was pathetic.

Otis winning makes it even worse. I cannot understand for 1 second what Vince sees in that fat mess

Whole company has regressed back to 1995.

I said exactly the same.

It's so strange, because AEW are doing effectively what made WCW successful in that period, in being edgier and catering towards an older target audience.

WWE has returned to WWF 1995. It is a matter of time until the Gobbeldy Gooker returns

I mean, how the fuck can they think the best use of War Machine / Viking Raiders is to do Carpool Karaoke and play basketball?

Well, the best thing in wrestling in the last 5 years has basically just retired. The man is going to have a bairn.
Good on her.

I watched Impact for the first time in around 10 years this week. It was alright, albeit some of the promo production was shockingly bad. Ken Shamrock is there and looks more of a badass than he did in WWF in 1998.

What is quite odd though, is that they were doing a storyline where Moose (I didn't know this guy before, he was a beast) had picked up the championship belt and was forcing the ring announcers to refer to him as the champ.

I am now watching AEW and Brodie Lee is doing the exact same thing.

Similar concept, but a little different. Lee just randomly took that title from a reigning champ, whereas the real champ (a woman) in Impact is off screen due to the pandemic and 3 people fought for that (alternative) Moose title in the main event of an Impact PPV the other week, so he does have a bit more legitimacy to be parading himself as a champion. I thought they would have just ran with the 'TNA' belt until Tessa came back, but they are seemingly ignoring it and having a #1 contender tournament for the 'Impact' belt, where I guess down the line there will be a recognised champion vs champion bout to determine the undisputed champ. I've only seen 4 episodes of Impact mind, I decided to watch the 2 part Rebellion PPV 3 and 4 weeks ago, and have recorded the 2 most recent episodes on Impact since they are on freeview (I think) at 9pm on Weds and I tend to watch around 10/10.30ish and whizz through them in under an hour. When more sports start up again I'll soon be ditching it as I couldn't really say I'm enjoying it, and mainly watching for the sake of it.
Just in time then. I see the WWE are bringing back In Your House as an NXT Takeover show.

Can I ask Vince if they can use the old theme music since they have brought back much of the IYH logo?

It's good how there is a bit more direction and focus for the NXT shows now and something to build towards, but I originally only started getting into WWF/E in 1999 and only via the Sky One stuff - Livewire, Superstars etc. until Smackdown came on Sky One as I didn;t have Sky Sports then, so didn't really know much about In Your House, but the announcement generally seems to have been well received.
There'll be 3 AEW/WWE PPVs in the space of 4 weekends starting from May 23rd.
Anyone else up to date with Dark Side Of The Ring? Herb Abrams episode has been my fave so far.

I thought the most recent Road Warriors / Legion of Doom episode was decent as well. Next weeks will be emotional.

Aye definitely, think the Herb Abrams has been my favourite one so far.

Mine is still Benoit, just because I was more invested in it having grown up with him on my TV. I had never heard of Schulz or Herb prior to this series. Still really enjoyed the latter mind.

I have watced the last 3 on watchwrestling and the first 3 or 4 on YouTube, and I think that has made a big difference as well. YouTube was very hit and miss. After about 30 mins of Scultz it went back to the beginning on all 3 versions I saw, which led me to look for alternative sites. The Benoit one was a bit dodgy as well as it kept on jumping in in part 2, still watchable though - I might actually go back and watch part 2 (or both) on watchwrestling.

Speaking of next week and Owen Hart, I see Martha is on the latest 'Talk is Jericho' episode, so I'll download that for my daily walk next - I guess a lot will be covered next week, but should be pretty interesting.
Is there a single place I can find these, struggling a bit on youtube.

Post directly above yours. Just type it into Google or Bing.
Ideally Bing and use the .la one.
