Therein lies the difference, they may come from Saudi, but I can’t recall Mansour or the Sheffield owner being responsible for sanctioning the gross human rights infringements. Could have been handled so differently but the damage is done now.

The UAE who own city, Qatar who own PSJ along with many of the Middle Eastern countries have a legal system in which Sharia law trumps civil law. They all have the stoning laws, same women's rights issues, the same persecution of gays.
They all take down dissidents on trumped up charges, use torture executions etc.
Granted only the Saudi's had Jamal khashoggi murdered but all those other countries have engaged in state sponsored murder and lets face it when it comes to state sponsored murder it's not like the west have clean hands either.

If you want to criticise the Saudi's then fine, do so and more power to you but you need to be equally vocal against all the other countries in the middles east that operate under the same ethos when it's put to you.
If you are going to say it's ok for the UAE to buy City and Qatar to buy PSJ but the Saudi's buying NUFC should not be allowed it shows your issue is being anti NUFC not pro human rights.

Mansour is a member of the royal family and the deputy prime minister of the UAE how is that distancing the purchase from the government?
MBS isn't even going to be on the board so he is more removed from it than Mansour

They are both exactly the same thing a state buying into football to boost it's public image and increase its exposure

There is nothing i have said in any of the 3 page whataboutery posts that apologises or condones anything the Saudi state has done.

I do want them to buy NUFC though and their human rights record doesn't change that.

I think it’s more blatant to us because we live in the area and she uses a local team to her gain. People who live outside of the area will have no idea who she is or her antics.
She used the Ashley thing as a point scoring exercise and now is playing the Good Samaritan with the Saudis.
Of course it’s rank hypocrisy but personally I’m a lot more offended by the actions of current cabinet ministers than I am a no mark bank bencher.

When the UAE bought city there was a lot said about the UAE's human rights records but you didn't see banners about it at the match.
I would suspect if there is money thrown in as it was at city and we become good most of the criticism will revolve around trying to buy the league, having plastic glory hunting fans etc.
If they don't put large amounts of money in and we are a mid table side I don't think anyone will give a shit about us and nothing will change.

If we played you i think your fans would be waving things like that but we won't be playing you anytime soon if this buy out happens.

Maybe, but it’s detractors will see the global appeal of football as the perfect platform to raise awareness........along with football fans who may use it as a stick to beat you with .........Erm pardon the expression

I think the first of your points will definitely be the case, groups like amnesty will use the profile of the club to raise awareness around the issues they want to highlight.
I disagree with the second point, i think the stick the fans will use to beat us will be based around the money not the human rights.
For example lets say they extend the stadium and we are getting 60k instead of 50K we will all be branded plastic fans and glory hunting. Only if we are getting some success though, if we are not like I say i don't think anyone will give a shit.
