I remember it happening live on the telly.
I was with the girlfriend at the time, watching something on the gogglebox, and they cut to this.
1st time the general population had really heard what the SAS was about and what they did.

Aye, I was in between choosing whether to go for the pink or the brown
The footage was filmed from the student halls overlooking the embassy. Supposedly, one of the students had seen what was going on, called the BBC and charged them £200 to film it from his bedroom. He wasn't seriously disciplined as they were quite impressed with his entreprenurial spirit.

We played West Ham 12th May..the siege ended on the 5th May..West Ham won the FA Cup on the 10th.
