Doubtful but possible - it depends on their long-term ambitions. A stadium in excess of 53,000 would require a move to be made. All sorts of commercial opportunities could open up if they built on freehold land - and there's at least one site available at the edge of the central core.

Buy the stadium off the council, then build a new stadium/training camp, knock the old ground down, build offices, hotel, bars and restaurants.

All there is around that part of town is offices. Why on earth would more need to be built?

By Restaurants, I'm guessing you're referring to a Greggs that you can sit inside?

Unless the new owners can somehow buy back the Strawberry Place land that Ashley flogged, then a major capacity increase would only be possible with a move to a new stadium.
The Arena will probably be vacated in the next couple of years and it's surrounded by a lot of brownfield land currently marketed as development site. There's an enormous amount of space there and it's just a 5 minute walk from Central Station. A major stadium there with ancillary buidings and landscaping would be transformative for the south-west of the city.
Another possibilty would be to revisit the plans to build on Castle Leazes. This would be more contentious and spatially limiting, but would be a frisby throw away from St.James's.
The club shouldn't countenance moving away from the city centre and these options achieve that.
 
This rivalry.It‘s greater when both teams are in the same league.The rivalry in Manchester is greater now than when Man City were in a lower league.It would be interesting to know how much rivalry there is between Nottingham Forest and Notts County.Surely it will diminish ,but never disappear,over the years.
