Do you think there's a chance that, if Newcastle do well, Sunderland by extension becomes more attractive to buyers? I hate to suggest we in some way need them to do well  but they could have an unwitting effect on us, in the long term?

I think the opposite would happen as we'd lose another generation of supporters along the way. That's actually my biggest fear in all.this. I know we are far, far bigger than the clubs I'm going to mention here, but for Man City's neighbours, the likes of Bolton, Blackburn, Oldham, Stockport and Bury, their takeover hasn't done them any favours.

Even Man Utd have fell by the wayside!

It’s the only hope I’m clinging onto, one mega takeover has been ballsed up for us, there’s hopefully parties out there that will still fancy playing the long game, whether it’s STID or the exposure the sportswashed now get I don’t really care.

I’d hope somebody is sounding out this US media gadgy that has £350m ready to invest should the awab deal fall through.

Not sure there will be anything to compete over will there, and if we were to play them then it's reduced to a fixture like Bolton Vs Man City and will only highlight just how far the gulf is.

It wont be it still be the same as always just the scoreline maybe different.

You may as well just give up on football if thats way look at it

If Donald stays and the Arabs takeover the Mags the gap will become that big there is a possibility that the rivalry would slowly die. They are going to be at least challenging for the top six and winning the odd cup. Were as we will be yoyo-ing between League One and The Championship. And that's down to how badly Donald has ran the club.

We have no idea how this will pan out and who knows where we will be in a few years? If someone had said to me in 95 when Mick Buxton was manager and we were heading to the 3rd tier that we'd go to St James in 4 years and beat them I would have thought they were mad. Times have changed a bit but again we might get out of this division and I believe we could get new owners once in the championship...either way I don't like the way the game has changed, desperate for rich owners, it's shite.

I was talking about the rivalry. We still have our own path to follow, but it's in different circles to theirs.
