I was sure one year nufc had a large transfer surplus. The season we were relegated I think?

sadly the who;e situation has changed. the market has been predicted to collapse so £200 mill goes further as clubs sell assets to survive. its probably;y this predicted collapse and opportunity to exploit that has sealed the deal.I would expect that any club with that backing is going to consistently be a top 6 team

worse still fpp may have to be relaxed as some of the big clubs are going to make huge losses this year

then there is the huge conflict of interest if saudis start paying millions for TV rights which can certainly influence the cl rules. which are to protect the elites tv income

this is a juggernaut that needs to be stiopped before it starts
The so called top 6, Wolves, Leicester & Everton are also in very strong positions when it comes to buying. The mags wont have it all their own way. And don't forget, these clubs have far superior squads than the mags already.

I sincerely hope SAFC is sold soon, we’re going to need some good news or the worst point in our history is only going to be magnified as they spend £100’s of millions
When this goes through the two clubs will have never been so far apart. Like you say it will just amplify our shitness, scratching about to spend a few hundred k on players while they spend fortunes.

So they get taken over and spend 200m. Means nowt. Everton spent 200m and ended up with a worse team, as did Man Utd. West Ham spent a fortune and ended up in bottom 3. Arsenal have some great players and can only reach mid table. Whereas Sheff Utd have spent nowt and are pushing for the Champs League. Football is a funny old game as they say. But in reality Man City & Liverpool are too far ahead of everyone and will be for the next 10yrs imo
The bed sheets will be out again soon enough mate. If they haven’t spent 200 mil and won summat within two years they will miraculously discover a moral compass.

completely agree but over time that sort of backing will have an effect and the elite will move further away

Spending wisely is way more important than spending big.

Leicester, Liverpool, Sheffield United, Brentford, all shown that you can have 'success' by recruiting well. West Ham, Man Utd, ourselves, yourselves all shown you can spend a lot of money on transfers and get it very wrong indeed.

If this takeover goes through, I'd hope that the decision makers see the value in a considered approach to player and staff recruitment, rather than just throwing cash around.

I can see them spending 500m in the next 3-4 years on transfers but it wont get them past challenging for a Europa league spot.
If they didnt mind paying stupid wages, 200m spent right could get you close to a top4/6 squad. As weve seen with West Ham and Everton mind, clubs rarely spend right.

Can you?

I could see us make a splash in the first couple of windows because we've been running at a profit, but after that it should come back down. We haven't the income to get that kind of largess past FFP.

I recall Man City went on a spending spree and ended up with some average players on huge wages that they couldn’t shift because nobody could afford them. Santa Cruz, Rodwell, Robinho

Your fans have spent the last few seasons insisting he just throws the cash around rather than being considered. Incredible hypocrisy.
