Didn’t Ashley try this trick as well, the unwashed will forget that he walked out on them twice and lap it up again.
He brought him in as manager, not sure if it would qualify as a trick like, Ashley didn't whip his top hat off, shout abracadabra and pull Keegan out or anything like that.
I would agree Keegan was brought in by Ashley as a public relations exercise.

True, he was brought in simply to win the fans over, but it was a big mistake by Keegan going back the second time. His first stint, he was the right man in the right place at the right time as everything fell into place. There wasn’t a cat in hells chance he could get anywhere near repeating that. You should never go back.

Same applies to Rafa. If he goes back, most mags will then see him for what he is and despise him for boring them to death with more expensive players. Liverpool have never looked back since they got rid of him.

Not that i'm particularly advocating Rafa comes back, but when you say Liverpool have never looked back since they got rid of Rafa I think your opinion is mostly influenced by your dislike for NUFC and would be different had Rafa never managed us.
Under Rafa Liverpool won a FA cup, Charity Shield, the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup.
After him they had Hodgson, Daglish and Rodgers who only had 1 league cup between the three of them. Until Klopp they had been looking back, granted since Klopp they have very much been looking forward.

To be fair, Hodgson and Dalglish were only there a year each. Rodgers had them playing well and should really have won the title for them. Rafa in his time there spent a kings ransom on many players in the hope of finding a good one and his style of football was always on the cautious side. I always remember Carragher saying that at half time in the Champions League final, Rafa told them to keep it tight at the back even though they were 3-0 down. Luckily for Liverpool, Gerrard got them to ignore Rafa and go for it. Liverpool won that night despite Rafa, not because of him. I would honestly love him to go back to Newcastle.

If and when the takeover goes through the following players would prove suitable :
Terry Butcher, Steve Death, 'Chopper' Harris, Amby Floggarty, Craig Sheikspeare, Keiran Whippier, Terry Paine, Norman 'Bites yer Legs' Hunter, Justin Lashanu and Steve Doylewell. Manager of course would be Steve Brutal.

f***ing sick of hearing about them to be honest ! More about them on this site and banter with resident Mags than anything else relating to football 🙄
