newcastle havet won a grown up trophy in a log time..when last tiome they won the legaue?
they have the champions league thing for sure.
palace does have quite a good catchment area..and ist an area that is ecomig wealthier..ut bigger cathment area than leeds?

Leeds also isn't a footballing city. Certainly doesn't live for it anyway.

I think this is a myth we say to ourselves to make supporting a shit club seem ok.

When I speak to Man City fans they absolutely love winning things, competing with their rivals and playing in Europe. Yeah there’s some who miss certain aspects of being shit but I reckon 99% of them are happier now then they were in the third division. You only have to go to the etihad to know how good they’ve got it.

Fair points. I would say again though that many mags (not all, of course) hark back to Keegan and think that’s coming back, but even if they do get challenging at the top end I doubt like they’ll ever recreate the feeling from then. Ditto us with Reid and the move to the stadium. Different times.

It's history because its all in the past. They have won less than probably 10-15 clubs in this country, I wouldn't say that gives them a great history. Not sure how much any of that really matters now anyway.

I meant Leeds with catchment area, I am not sure they would go for more than Palace all things being equal now.

Investors often look for uniqueness as well. Look at red bull in Germany. Leipzig? They'd often rather mop up there vs buy 1860 munich. Man City exception obviously. Like it or not Newcastle buy is bigger news than a more pragmatic Leeds buy if impact is what you're after.

I am struggling to think of many examples of uniqueness, most of these owners want the biggest flashiest club they can get, with a good chance of fairly quick success. I doubt someone like the Saudi investment fund would consider buying Yeovil Town and bring them through the leagues.

Google search for the latest on this, brings up the followng :

Apparently we are "snowflakes"........... and those that oppose the new owners should leave and support SAFC. Oh and Amanda is attractive!

Possibly

The top ten in the premier league will quickly become a closed shop

best thing for us Sunderland supporters is for Man United to sort their shit out
