There is a lot of genius woven into the fabric of this thread. This thread is utter madness. It's brilliant.
Wow, do you write for the Chronical by any chance?
He writes better than any Chronicle journalist I've ever read.
I wouldn’t be happy in the slightest if we had owners with Human right’s record of the Saudis and Mohammed bin Salman.....
there you go!
but seeing as you played the moral card about mike Ashley.....it would be hypocrisy if you didn’t say the same about the new owners. But it just goes to show it’s more about money than morals
He has a longstanding connection with Ananda Staveley and most of the squad. He is an outstanding coach. Not much ambition been shown if they get Rafa back. nibble
Glad you enjoy the vignettes I try to bring to the debate. He writes better than any Chronicle journalist I've ever read.
Aye. Must be hard living in Morpeth putting up with them. I grew up in Bedlington and was literally a red and white target growing up. Then moved to fuckin Pompey of all places where they still hate red and white!Well they say “yah just divvent understand!” - I seriously don’t. They may well be able to attract other higher pedigree coaches, it depends upon the blueprint of the investors. They might want a more attacking style of football.
Certainly Newcastle fans I have spoken to down the years identify with a more attack minded style but under Benitez they grew to recognise the benefits of a Grand Master chess player outwitting coaches with greater resources. That would remind them of his achievements at Valencia where with moderate resources he broke the power of the two Uber clubs in
Benitez is revered up there, but as much of that is his affronts to the owner and connection with the fan base.
In the end, it will be interesting to watch how it plays out.
Glad you enjoy the vignettes I try to bring to the debate.
You do wonder if just for once, the fit and proper person test will be thorough. Although if Trump didn’t care about Khashoggi or the Yemen, and if our own government didn’t care, it’s really unlikely that the Premier league will take any sort of stand regarding such an appalling human rights record:

Christ, nee idea. Ordering a mob to go to an Embassy overseas and kill/chop someone up probably doesn’t come up in such a test. I mean our own government still sell him weapons all the time, so it’s hard to see the Premier league righteously declaring him guilty of any of the many abuses Amnesty have him linked to. They’re just a football league’s governing body. What do you think is in the fit and proper persons test?

Well apart from at Inter, Real or Napolif***ing hell man, he got 44 points in his first full season (top division) and 45 points in his next. Steve Bruce has 35 points from 29 games.
Benitez has a fantastic track record and has done wonders for clubs but he did not do the job you'd expect from a "Grand master chess player" of a manager whilst at Newcastle.
