I laugh at everyone saying they’re not bothered, it’s shite news whichever way you spin it. Those of us endured the birth of Jawdee nation under Hall and Keegan knows how intolerable plastic mags can be.

Stewie, you just lost any slack that STID2 bought you. Our plight will be all the more exposed once they start lauding it over us again.

If Ashley can sell that club, with a problem stadium, low level training facilities, based in the north of england and with no trophy for many decades he is a fecking genius.
The Telegraph have the move well advanced, and it's not Luke Edwards either. Jason Burt is a more reliable source.

I'll say this again, as a Dirty fairly old Mag, I would rather have Fat Mike than the Saudi's.

If they takeover, then I'm not sure if I would even watch the games on a VPN.

Horrible set of absolute !$nts.

I personally wouldn’t give a shiny shite if our owners were going to spend a billion quid on us. Sadly barring a small minority that’s probably the case of most fan bases. All the human rights stuff will just get overlooked if it’s benefitting your club. Unfortunately I know I’d be one of the majority rather than the moral minority 😂 and I consider myself generally decent too haha

Yeah I think you’ve said it well. I do understand that, and I know I’d certainly be in the minority!

It’d be really hard about what I’d actually do about my displeasure though. Especially because I do actually enjoy watching us win. I would hate to sit through all this crap in league one just to sulk at home when we’re good. And I love the day out at away games or whatever! So just going to watch a non-league team wouldn’t be the same.

At the same time I have mates who are LGBTQ+ and I don’t know how I could call myself a ally of theirs if I’m supporting a club owned by the SA royal family every Saturday.

For once I think this going through, up to now Ashley has used it as a diversion but what company house has would be impossible to forge.

and I can not spell not.

I think people are fearing a Monsour situation. Its a consortium. Can't be that rich
mansour is a consortium a well like..i mean he ist like..he is a person..but there are multiple shareholders in the cmpany that owns city..
liverpool is a consortium..they dont seem to doo badly..
consortiums are formed nnot just for capital but for expertise and time..

Let's look at the broader context:

Mike Ashley's fortune is built on retail.

And right now, there is no retail and store chains throughout the country are going bust.

Why would he not cash in and sell now? He'd be a fool not to.

He could lose everything and be stuck with a football club which is also now losing money because he can't operate it.
it must surelyt have helped the negotiations along like..now is the time to be in cash..

Don’t believe what you read in the press, the fact is they know fuck all. Had me selling to Flloyd Mayweather, Turks, Mexicans, and a friend of Kim Kardashian these past few months. If I ever go you’ll be hearing it here first.

Aye, the Rueben brothers alone are worth at least 9 times our current owner and are Newcastle fans, but it's not exciting?

Sour grapes.
Let's be honest if they wanted to spend shot loads on the club they would have just bought it outright, people have stakes for all sorts of reasons in football clubs and it's rarely for footballing purposes, but aye sour grapes

One thing I've never understood is why she's involved? I mean, is she not some sort of door-opener? A bit of a fixer? Might be wrong. I've just never understood why people as rich as those seemingly behind the current talks would need a Staveley to open doors for when. You'd think they'd just buy it without her getting involved
beause they get pitched so many ideas they need someone to filter out the time wasters,..
because they are invested in a huge array of ddifferent thigs they dont have time for premliary negotiations..so they get somoen else to do it..
these people have full time jobs elsewhere.,.they cant drop that to do adeal that may not even be a major holding for them..

As daft as this sounds, that account is probably the most reliable one to trust regarding their takeover news.

why buy it outright..what possible gain would they have?
the only reason to buy a football club oif that scale outright is because you want to launder your reputaion (like abramavhich..) these guys dont care about that so.....

I'm not expecting a Man City sort of splurge, but those boys joining with PIF who are worth 320 billion IS exciting after 13 years of Ashley. If that sort of money was going into Sunderland then you would be excited.

If you pretend otherwise then it is sour grapes.
