I hope you're are as accurate as you were on this tbh.

Almost certainly bollocks, although this looks to be the most concrete detail we've seen to date and Ashley could be a more willing seller nowadays.

On the one hand, it seems to be a particularly risky time to be buying a football club. On the other hand, there might be bargains to be had. Think what ye like about Fat Ashley, but he's nee mug when it comes to money (usually, ha, ha)....

Lost ~£0.5bn of his personal wealth over the last couple of years. 'No mug'

It looks like Staveley has set up a credit facility to pay St James' holdings £150 million. That would cover what Ashley is owed wouldn't it? She has the funds from the court case with Barclays. I think the only scepticism I would have now is just who else is involved? And how much of a slippery character Staveley could turn out to be.

Let's look at the broader context:

Mike Ashley's fortune is built on retail.

And right now, there is no retail and store chains throughout the country are going bust.

Why would he not cash in and sell now? He'd be a fool not to.

He could lose everything and be stuck with a football club which is also now losing money because he can't operate it.

I think this one will go through actually. It's still weird how the details continue to leak out though. Maybe it's because the interest in the story is ridiculous.

Thats like saying theres no need to worry about anything.

Calm down man. There's actual things in life to worry about at the minute. It's not really possible to spend your way to the top anymore anyway.

How much of a 'slippery character Staveley could turn out to be (any basis for this?)' vs how much of an utter shithouse Mike Ashley is known to be?

Yeah, I'm rolling the dice tbh.

Calm down

Ruben brothers involved.
Time took to negotiate
Small deposit

This isn't the takeover the mags are dreaming of
It's still the takeover that was reported (Saudis 80%, Reubens 10% and Staverly 10%) doesnt help that the Reubens are worth 18 billion and they apparently love the toon.

I would have reservations about anyone's intentions when buying a football club. Especially if they have absolutely no affinity with it.

Dated Prince Andrew and....

"Staveley suffers from mood swings that affect her family life, and there are long periods where she can’t sleep for more than three hours a night".
