Aphrodite Clothes shop

Neil , was obsessed with Levi’s Vintage raw denim
I bought a pair of them from eleven . And a folk top. Think it was buy one item get one half price. Quite an unusual ‘sale’ . Can’t remember the exact date but maybe that was the beginning of the end .

Neil, that's the lad. Lovely fella and what he didn't know about denim wasnt worth knowing.
A Saturday back in the day was a bacon sarnie after a heavy night in the Board Inn then one of the lads would take turns to drive and pick the others up and we more often than not headed down Boro for some gear before heading on the piss for the day with the new clobber on, sticking the Psyche sticker in the window of our Nova SR’s or AX GT’s! Great times!

There was also some designer warehouse that I seem to recall, remember getting a load of Stone Island Marina gear from there. It was in some industrial estate from memory away from main shopping, just rails of gear to rake through.

100%

Aye, the warehouse place was canny. Plenty of shite but I got loads of Stone Island gear from there, including a Marina jumper which would be worth a few quid now. Above or next to a social club, wasnt it?
It was. I don’t know the exact reason why it closed, but the website was awful. At a time when the whole online clothing market was really exploding. I suspect they just got left behind in that respect.

Aphrodite reaped the rewards of Eleven shutting, as they managed to take on most of the exclusive brands Eleven sold.

A lad I know went to work for them from Eleven and took his contacts of what he knew would sell by the boat load - S.I. CP and Moncler iirc

Certainly is. Didn't he get a 30th anniversary Millie for selling so much CP when he was at Eleven?
Another great lad. Known him years.

He did yeah, amongst a good few things he got for his efforts.
I’ve worked in that game for years with Dave, I always get a bit misty eyed when I reminisce about it.
Is that the kid who thought looked like Paul seller but looked more like frank sidebottom? Or somebody else
Ffs weller not seller

Aye that’s Dave. Still hanging onto those sideboards of his. He’s sound.

Yeah I know the kid you mean

I used to get through Sunderland a lot in those days. Aphrodite, eleven, west one and Van mildest all good.
Minds gone blank, what did they call the shop where Philly Goodfellow worked down from eleven ?

Good lads who run it and the manager is a topper bloke who I’ve known for years but it’s no Oi Polloi. In that I mean it sells a load of shit that I wouldn’t be seen dead in whereas I could pretty much chuck on most things that the Manchester shop sells. Plus the Oi Polloi lads are obsessed by clothes whereas I don’t think the brothers are if you know what I mean.
