Aphrodite Clothes shop

Aye I would agree with this , back in the day eleven was the better shop , Aphrodite was more mainstream brands .
To be fair Boro always had better Shops for gear (pre internet shopping days) , Triads and Psyche
Aye its class down there for clothing shops totally agree. Psyche store is huge isnt it

Haven’t been down for 10 year mate , would go down pretty often when was in 20s/30s and more disposable income , last time was down psyche was in obvious decline IMO , just stocking mainstream brands and chasing £££
Nah, it was when they first opened anyway.
Was definitely something odd about them closing just can’t remember what it was :D
Can’t think who the other owner was .
One of the lads who use to work there is a buyer for Fenwicks now

Eleven was a great shop. Selling brands like dries, miu miu, Raf etc.

All of a sudden though service and exclusivity became less relevant and mass consumption of big brands took over. Very sad

I heard a rumour that there had been loads of pre orders for stone island jackets paid for by lads just before eleven closed down
which resulted in those who had placed orders losing a canny bit of coin. Personally can’t see that being true - Neil didn’t seem the type at all, unless it was all beyond his control .

Eleven was class. The best men's shop in the region at one point imo.
I've completely forgotten what the lad was called but a cracking fella who could literally talk to you all day about denim, if you so wanted.

A Saturday back in the day was a bacon sarnie after a heavy night in the Board Inn then one of the lads would take turns to drive and pick the others up and we more often than not headed down Boro for some gear before heading on the piss for the day with the new clobber on, sticking the Psyche sticker in the window of our Nova SR’s or AX GT’s! Great times!

There was also some designer warehouse that I seem to recall, remember getting a load of Stone Island Marina gear from there. It was in some industrial estate from memory away from main shopping, just rails of gear to rake through.
You in then?
100%

It was just off linthorpe road, the SI Marina range was excellent mid 90’s. Mind that warehouse had their fair share of shite which was very dubious to say the least.

Memory is hazy from 25 years ago, but I seem to recall it being like a TK Maxx type affair where you had to rake through tonnes of shite to pick out a few gems.

It was. I don’t know the exact reason why it closed, but the website was awful. At a time when the whole online clothing market was really exploding. I suspect they just got left behind in that respect.

Aphrodite reaped the rewards of Eleven shutting, as they managed to take on most of the exclusive brands Eleven sold.
