Whisky

I've just taken delivery of a bottle of Dalwhinnie Winter's Gold from Amazon and it is lush, one of the smoothest malts I've tasted. Only £25 reduced from £39 anarl.
I was looking at the Dalwhinnie 15 last night and resisted purchase but at £25 I couldn't miss out on the Winter's Gold option. Ordered.

I wasn't that fussy on it mesel mate, although it improved once it had been in the freezer. It's downfall IMO is that it's comparable to its sister the great 15yo...

Have you ever tried that one? It's all about personal taste of course. But in comparison to the 15 it was somewhat underwhelming. Although like I say, someone else could easily think the opposite...

I would agree, the 15 is a far better drink, albeit more expensive generally

Worth its asking price, tbf the Winter's Gold may be worth the 'offer' price, but it's not in the same league as the 15 as far as quality goes so doesn't belong in the price bracket it's often advertised in

Never put whiskey in the freezer does it always improve it

No mate, it's recommended with Winter's Gold, just gives it a bit of body which its lacking without it. Vodka on the other hand should always be kept in the freezer, good vodka anyway that you intend to drink neat :)

aye one of many with an artificially high RRP and often “reduced” to it’s real level

Ok thanks sounded odd. Might have to try the winters gold

Supermarkets (particularly Morrisons) often have the Winters Gold for less than £25.
This is the cheapest I've seen this Aberlour for a while
Still think it's overpriced at that personally.
For NAS cask-strength I think the Glengoyne is a better drop than the Aberlour but all about taste.
Glengoyne Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 70 cl: Amazon.co.uk: Grocery

Less than £50 at Wine Chambers in Tynemouth though ;)

I agree about it being still overpriced. Used to be a fair bit cheaper only a couple of years ago.
Bought a litre of Glenfarclas 105 ( cask Strength) for 42 Euro's ...now that is bang for buck

Agree with it being overpriced, I'm almost sure I paid between £30-£40 not that very long ago for the bottle I had, and even then I was underwhelmed.

Just poured myself a Craigellachie 10 ( part of the 20cl and glass offer on Amazon) it’s very decent.

would buy a full bottle if I could track it down.
There is the official bottling 13 yr old which I’ve not tried

Mine's due to land tomorrow, looking forward to it. I'm not sure there is an official bottling of the 10, going off the product write up it sounds like summit they do at a distillery. I know in the gift shop at Lochranza Arran have a cask that you can purchase drams/bottles from, I wonder if this is a similar thing from Craigellachie?
