8 o’clock clappers

No street parties for Royal stuff up here ever, quiet for the 11th hour of course, but never seen a scene of community outpouring. Even in the quiet little bit we live in, mostly empty with tourists all absent - the applause was belting out and someone blasted out YNWA. Very impressive.

Ynwa?!

I live in the middle of a 26 terraced street. We are set away at the front by large gardens over a private bumpy road so a bit secluded.
I sat at me top window and clapped along like a divvy but we had a good show.
I gave a special shouty mention to the nurse 3 doors up. She helped fix me up after one of my minor surgeries for an abscess last September. And she brought my smuggled in posh pillow home. I don’t forget these things.

Great stuff 👏👏👏
I started clapping at 4pm and have just finished clapping now, and have to go indoors coz I'm bloody freezing and need the toilet 🙄

Made me laugh half of these giving it the big virtue signal are the same ones who any other time shovel owt they can find in their veins, up their snouts or poured down their gullet then have to bother ambulance staff and hospital staff because they can't keep themselves right. Instead of facebook clappy bollocks show some proper respect for the NHS by not expecting them to act as a clean up crew for arsehole behaviour any other time

We missed it, and we didn’t hear it either. Big respect to everyone putting themselves on the frontline though. From our experiences in hospitals, the nurses are the absolute lifeblood of our NHS. One in particular is in my thoughts, she was an angel
Well said 👍

Lighten up mate. It's a gesture that's making a lot of people happy at a time we could all do with it. Stay safe marra.

Just after we were discharged she left for another caring type of job, but 6 months later she knew we were back in so came to see us as a visitor. I’ve just sent her a message to say she and the kindness she showed us all hasn’t been forgotten.
Fantastic. 👍👍

On the flip side, I was talking to a receptionist at the docs the other day, and she was quite upset & told me because of the overworked doctors and nurses, some patients were slow to be treated, and they threatened the receptionist with violence and called her worse than shit.
I called back into the docs with a big bar of chocolate for her, just to reassure her, the vast majority of patients realised her and the staff were doing a great job, under very difficult circumstances, and that their efforts were greatly appreciated.
The poor lass was almost in tears that I'd took the trouble to recognise her efforts.

Adversity often brings out the best in people, but it sadly sometimes brings out the worst in others.
