Getting a new fridge and transferring food over

Our fridge is about two weeks away from giving up the ghost, I reckon, so I’ve got a new one coming for the day we are out of self-isolation.

Given I’ve got a shitload of food in both the fridge and the freezer given how often I can now go shopping, anyone got any ideas for how to make the transfer over? Apparently I have to wait for hours for the new fridge to settle anyway so thats going to be a problem. I don’t have a cool box, just a small bag.
There is no logical solution. You have to eat all your food save it go to waste.

Enjoy ;)

I had a whole list of stupid suggestions but why not just buy some ice from a local supermarket to hoy in the new fridge/freezer; it's the one thing that people are not panic buying.

edit: get a neighbour to buy you the ice.

If its been transported on its side it'll take about 3-4 hours for the oil to collect and drain back to the compressor before you plug in otherwise you're firing up dry. If upright then about 30 mins max before you plug it in.

This might differ between brands, just read the literature on arrival anyway.

Source; I'm F-Gas and ODS regs qualified.

It’s gonna be Baltic from the weekend anyway so any combination of the ideas above or just put it in an unheated room or outside in bags. Just watch the foxes don’t scoff it.

They’re taking it away.

That’s fine but I still have to take everything out the old one and let the freezer defrost.

Instead of letting the freezer defrost why not take the ice out, put it in a bag & use it to help keep the rest of the bait cool. A hairdryer with one of those nozzles that narrows the air flow & a plastic or wooden spatula will let you get the ice out in no time.

When we were kids we didn't have a fridge, summer time the milk was kept in the kitchen sink in cold water which we changed every hour. Remember when we got our first one used make orange squash lollies with second hand sticks, freezer compartment you could only fit a packet of fish fingers in, think it was one of the only things you could buy frozen back then, how times change.

Same except we had a freezing cold pantry which worked as we got fresh milk delivered daily and it was drank quickly anyway.
