Cancelling Virgin Media

Winger
Just got a nice email to say they're putting the bills up from £41 to £83 - sat on hold waiting to get through to the callcentre for an hour and it just went off.

Anyone know if there's a way to cancel it online/any other way?

Took me quite a few attempts to cancel one service with them years ago, in the end I got pissed off and told them to stop the lot. I ended up with a massive saving as well as getting the full package with Sky for a quarter of the price.

Winner winner.
They weren’t willing to match Sky due to the sports package.
Cancel your direct debit. They'll soon be ringing you up.

That won’t stop him paying the £80 odd quid unless he tells them to sling their hook when he gets a bill and they let him off, which I doubt.

How is it going up that much?

I basically rang them last year saying I'd cancel and go to Sky and they rang me back the next day and offered me half price with better speeds/channels.

I think I might be fucked here - if I cancel Virgin now, I might struggle to get another internet provider in due to the lockdown.

£83 is absolutely mental though, we barely watch any of the channels and don't have a house phone. I'd rather just have freeview.

I wasn't being serious mind.

I'd send signed for letter (keep a copy) to their office saying you wished to cancel in 30 days (or how many days notice you have to give).

Virgin don't use the Openreach network like so most other providers cannit take it over. And aye, I think our lot have stopped taking new customers cos of the lack of Openreach engineers.

I'd bin them anarl mate but their internet is very good. Cant run the risk of switching and getting something shite.
I'm paying £60 a month atm....

I was working for a firm putting up rents for business properties to apply the start of next month, then after this kicked off, I had to change them to a year's time as it would be a pisstake to do it at the minute. Virgin seemingly give no fucks.

My ISP wanted to put my bill up to £36 a month (broadband only). Looked online and post office is £16, rang my ISP and they reduced to £18 so happy days. The service been alright and not risking shit internet for a £24 savings a year.

If your contract has ended you can cancel. I thankfully renegotiated mine over Christmas and the contact lasts for a year (a month before it ends I will call up and ask to renegotiate the same deal again if possible).

It is, but they don't half oversell it when you mention going to Sky. I dropped from 200Mb on Virgin to about 40/50Mb with Sky and for what we use it's made no difference. Streaming is the same, gaming is the same, internet is the same, despite the bloke from Virgin "strongly advising" 200Mb as a minimum. Daft twats.

That's basically what I did except it was last March/April so now it's gone back up.

I'm hoping they can just take all the channels out and "half" the internet speed and charge me the same price or less.

Just take the hit for a couple of months and then fuck them off. Its going to be the same for me. I moved house last year and got a cheap rate but only til the middle of April.

Is it only going to be a couple of months though! £500 extra over the year they're wanting
