Home Food Deliveries

Our lass and the inevitable Facebook WhatsApp groups are sourcing fresh deliveries and pickups from restaurants and stuff

She made and brought me a beef and mash stew last night and let me tell you it was delicious.

She’s getting a veg pack today and in slightly worrying news availing herself of a milkman.

Like most people we have several vulnerable family members that can't or shouldn't go out to supermarkets. My wife generally does her mother's shopping as self isolating is not exactly a problem for her as she never goes out.

How do we go about getting her an on line shop when places are not taking new customers or websites are crashing?
Online grocery delivery systems have been completely overwhelmed by sheer numbers and demand from people who are vulnerable or self-isolating. Companies are desperately recruiting to try and fill the demand, this will take some time but will get better in the coming months. In the meantime make alternative arrangements, either organise as a family or see if any of the community groups being set up can help. Good luck.
I some how managed to get one for Friday from ASDA. Was ideally wanting it for next week some time but there was nowt just two random slots for this Friday. I'm not hopeful it's going to turn up or if it does it be very different to the order I put in.
Likely cancellations which have been put back out there. You got lucky being online at the right time.

Most likely mate.

I'm not sure why the supermarkets aren't being told to prioritise the vulnerable, alongside reducing order sizes so food can be delivered to more households from a single vehicle.
Unless the customers tell the companies of their situation how would the companies know ? I believe some companies are now trying to collate this info as customers are making them aware. It will take time mind so not much help in the short term for vulnerable or self-isolating people.
What selfish behaviour is being exhibited with home deliveries? Not challenging, by the way, just interested.
Twats block booking slots when it started becoming apparent that the situation was going to get serious. They know they wouldn't need a slot every/every other day but booked them anyway then cancel at the last minute the slots they don't want.

I didn't know people were doing that type of block booking. Is there some way you can tell? I've done grocery shopping online for probably over 10 years now so previous experience of times like Easter and Christmas suggested that slots would become busier and I booked a couple on that basis although they were the usual amount of time apart (10 days). I'm surprised the supermarkets can't just impose some sort of restriction on the number of slots an individual / household address can book (or maybe they can, I don't know).

Yes they can tell.
They never had any need to have restrictions before and I think most companies allowed 1 delivery per day per customer/address. That is hopefully about to change.

The governement doesn't know its arse from its elbow. There are not enough slots, old and at risk people are stuggling to get deliveries. Younger people are usually more IT savy and they have made sure they got their orders in first. Along with their toilet rolls.
I'm getting slots for my parents just about up to now.

I've got an Ocado Reserved slot once a week, but now they are saying they might cancel them and it'll be a free for all on the website. I don't know what I'll do if that happens as all the other supermarkets seem to be overwhelmed as well.

Bridgewater butchers in Washington do meat deliveries, they are busy mind!

Chester road fruit and veg shop do fruit and veg delivery boxes which includes a bottle of milk I think. They can be found on facebook. I dare say other independents are doing the same thing around the region and country.
