A rewatch, just to brush up on survival skills in case civilisation collapses this week.
Astounding opening 30 minutes, followed by a very good tale of staying alive. Naomie Harris is especially excellent, in her portrayal of hard- nosed survivalist Selena

I watched it again last weekend. Its still class.

Watched the purge for the first time last night. Pile of shite. 3/10.

The Good Liar - not bad and nice to see McKellen and Mirren together.

Just watched Angels with Dirty Faces while doing the ironing. Still fresh, great performance from Cagney, I was a bit teary at the end. Was he a yellow coward or not? I lean towards yes.
Just watched the last 5 mins of Angels again and decided that Cagney found salvation and was putting on an act. Amazing that a film from 1938 still has that power and can be thought provoking. (I'm aware that I'm probably talking to myself here...)

Angels with Dirty Faces would be somewhere in my top 10.

Just watched an extra on the dvd (yes, some of us still have a dvd collection 😃) which stated that Cagney inserted that phrase as he'd observed someone on the street use it. Also that Leo Gorcey (you'll know the Dead End Kid I mean) tried to upstage Cagney by ad libbing, until Cagney told him to quit or he'd flatten him. 😀

The Grudge - Average 5/10

The invisible man - enjoyed it, 7/10

The last apocalypse fillum I’ll be watching as I’m starting to get a bit skitzy about CV-19 now.
Decent opening scene again, and chocka with (now) big famous actors- didn’t realise that Rose Byrne and Idris Elba were in it

I had to watch part of the 2017 BBC adaptation of An Inspector Calls at work a few weeks back. Got my hands on the rest of it today and caught the end. It was actually pretty good. Remember doing it at school, but the written version obviously left little impact on me. It's mad that good things don't make an impression on you when you're young/at school. Know a lot of people who detest works they had to do during English that I loved as an adult; I guess I owe a debt of thanks to my teachers for making me read tosh such as Tess of the d'Urbevilles and the like.

Anchorman 2, I really enjoyed it - made me laugh hysterically a few times, just what I needed at a shitty f***ing time for us all. Would give it a solid 8/10, Ron Burgundy and the gang in fine form again.
