Whisky

Wasn’t going to have anything tonight but just poured the Glengoyne 15 funny enough...nice but still think they would be both better off at 46% rather than 43%

not putting me off of course
makes it easy to drink and less of a challenge a great first dram of the night , love tasting stuff with an edge now though which I would have turned my nose up to a while ago

For me a decent glass definitely makes a big difference a glencairn is Def a good starting point 👍

does indeed make a huge difference, certainly between a Glencairn/copita v a tumbler

The odd time I buy a malt in a “normal pub” and you get it in a small tumbler type thing you really notice that lack of nose

Curious as to what nibbles other whisky drinkers like to have with their dram?
Dry Carrs Table water biscuits are usually my nibble of choice but tempted to go something salty for a change.

Caol Ila 18 is tonight’s dram of choice.

Depends on the whisky for me. I prefer sherried malts in a master blenders glass, older non-sherried whiskies in a tulip glass and the remainder in a glencairn. Tried the Norlan and NEAT glassware and didn't like either - the Norlan glasses have too thick a rim and the NEAT glasses are for those who enjoy a challenge to get the whisky out of the glass.
Hosted a blind peated tasting for my local whisky group - 12 whiskies was probably a few too many and the order was quite random. Not to mention it was quite challenging to guess what was what. Pics in are true of the order of the tasting:

1. Longrow 15yo Rum
2. McCarthy's Oregon Hightland Peated Oregon Oak
3. Paul John 5yo 2nd Fill Bourbon
4. Highland Park 26yo 1st Fill US Oak / PX
5. Smogen 8yo Sauternes Barrique
6. Hellyers Road 14yo
7. English Whisky Co 7yo Smokey PX
8. Isle of Jura 29yo Toasted Hogshead
9. Willowburn 7yo Ruby Port / PX / Dulce Malaga
10. Allt-a-Bhainne 7yo 2nd Fill Bourbon
11. Cooley 12yo Bourbon
12. Port Charlotte 12yo Viognier Condrieu
