During my away travels from 1974 to 1990 I visited 65 league grounds but I think most of them have gone, or are now non-league grounds. I didn’t even know Blackpool had moved until I saw people listing Bloomfield Road!

I went to Kingsmill Park for a Scotland v Iceland international (the home of Inverness Thistle) which felt very surreal.

Also Telford Street where Rangers fans who couldn't be bothered to go to Ibrox adopted Inverness Caley as their team. The Caley Inn is still there, by Muirtown Lock.

Caley probably needed that religious / political affiliation because the locals in Merkinch, South Kessock and Clachnaharry supported Clach.

It also explains Caley Thistle's relatively poor attendances. A large section of the then two old clubs supporters were against the merger and have never been to the amalgamated club. Their fanbase is almost entirely folk who never went to football when Inverness had 3 Highland League clubs.

Only the Manor Ground and Upton Park. Been to both of their replacements and they were both awful.
Griffin Park will be on the list in a few months :(

Been once. Seemed to be a lot of white settlers there. Didn’t seem to be tourists as they all had scarves and seemed to know each other and locals. Twas v JRs team just before he came to us.

26 out of 65 visited have changed, plus old Wembley of course. How depressing that all that heritage has gone.

It would seem so, mate.
I first started going to the away games in the 70's and carried on going home and away, until illness put paid to my football trips in 2008.
I'm fine nowadays, but only do the home games, these days.
I got to know many people from those away days, lots have become great friends, and there's those, who's names I don't know, but I always give & get a nod of acknowledgement from, as I and they, remember familiar faces from the decades of away trips, down the years.
