Any wildlife /Bird photographers here (non pro)?

Just wondering.

I did a little bit for a couple of years and it fell by the wayside as other commitments took priority. Spent a fortune on a canon big white and thinking about selling unless I can find time and energy to get back out again.

Have you got any pics you took from back then mate. It would be interesting to see how they look with a top quality lens.

whereabouts are you? Maybe find a club, I find it helps my motivation if I shoot with others.

That’s a hell of an investment

Yeah but I was flush at the time so it didn't hurt. I don't drink/smoke or spend a lot of money otherwise and I always liked to have decent stuff when it comes to Photography/ Guitars.

Its a bit obscene and I'm privileged to be able to do it.

I have mate. I'll share some later..

To be honest might as well share my flickr

A lot of those are heavy crops and some are taken with a Tamron 150-600 (inferior glass) any that look crap are probably due to poor technique rather than the kit used.

:/

Mate, they're absolutely fantastic. Really enjoyed looking at those and thanks very much for sharing them.

Absolutely quacking shots.

Thanks for the kind words lads\lasses.

I think I will hang onto my kit and see if I can get out a bit more in the coming months. We have a family of Green Woodpeckers nearby so hope to get those at some point. We also have Otters on the river Rear (5 mins walk from the house) I got shots and some video of the whole family of 5 early last year but I only had my walkabout lens with me at the time - so the results were not great! The lighting wasn't ideal as I was on the shady side of the river.

I've put a photo of the 3 I managed to get in shot in my gallery and will post it here once it is approved by the mods.

They don`t look crap. They are GREAT. Love those pictures.

Tragic waste of talent if you walk away mate. Superb pics.

Thank to both. Very kind of you to say that

My missus is always telling me to get back out there but time is really at a premium with a 7 month old girl, stressful/demanding job and a house that resembles a building site inside.

Had an offer from MPB for my kit which was pretty derisory (2.5k loss at least) so I think I'll hang on to it. I'll never be able to afford it again at my stage in life.

I'll hopefully get my life back at some point.

If you check the feed again, I've uploaded a couple of shots I got this time last year of a family of Otters. They are a little under exposed but I wanted to capture that murkiness of the old River Wear so didn't brighten them up too much!

It was a privilege to watch them playing and messing about in the water.
