apple mac desktop

They’re a seismic data processing company that uses high end PCs

I admit, however that every bit of tech she touches breaks without any good reason.
I once fixed a mate's daughter's computer and the browser was so full of installation add-on search bars there was barely an inch of window left. Sometimes people just can't use machines correctly and, if this is the case, breakage can't solely be put down to the hardware, IMHO.

we have frequent flyers at work as well. Same peolle constant problems.Phones break. Laptops break. They tend to have the temportment of a Tasmania devil and just slam and smash things.

Love Apple stuff like. Best on the market by far. Even better that @MooBaaOink hates it.

Sent from my iPhone

At no point have I said I hated it. I have an iPhone and an iPad. Never owned an android phone for years.

However I'm not blinded by Apple Jizz in my eyes and know exactly where there stuff comes from and what costs are involved. I deal with them both day to day in a working capacity.

Entirely up to you if you want to pay over the odds though. Apple do a lovely £1000 inanimate metal stand if you're interested. It looks nice and "just works" as well.

Once my iMac goes the journey i won’t be replacing it. I can do everything on my iPad Pro 12.9”. Even video production.

On the subject of apple macs has anyone seen the mac pros that you can configure and buy? Unbelievable spec at an even more unbelievable price. Ps I couldn't even match the spec with PC parts as it almost impossible finding the motherboard for example that will accept the spec. Here is the top mac Pro.

  • 2.5GHz 28‑core Intel Xeon W processor, Turbo Boost up to 4.4GHz
  • 1.5TB (12x128GB) of DDR4 ECC memory
  • Two Radeon Pro Vega II Duo with 2x32GB of HBM2 memory each
  • 8TB SSD storage
  • Rack mounting rails (ships in separate box)
  • Apple Afterburner card
  • Magic Mouse 2 + Magic Trackpad 2
  • Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad - British
  • Accessory Kit
Price £48,000 and that's just the base unit
😳
You are talking server stuff really

The stuff inside the cases are exactly the same. Motherboards, RAM, Hard Drive/SSD, PSU etc etc etc.
Pretty much true.
The only difference is malware. With a mac, you're twice as likely to get infected with it.

You read that right, as expected, the tide has finally turned to target the people who thought they were safe so took no precautions.

"When calculated in threats per system, Mac-targeted threats outpaced Windows by nearly 2:1 in 2019. "

anyone else have problems in getting their Apple Mac to connect to the home hub
other devices connect to the router straight away but mac can sometimes take 1/2 hour to connect
Apple advice on line is no good as it just seems to blame the route or ISP but as other devices connect straight away then it's not the router

IOS up to date etc
Nope, mine's working fine.

We know that.

IT people always downplay the bits that we non-IT people actually see and use: the ergonomics, the way the OS and apps work with the human mind. 15 years of using them and, in contrast to using other stuff for work, they guarantee me a pain-free back, unbleary eyes, and a calm mind not wound up by the unintuitive stupidity of the way Windows interacts with human beings.

Worth paying a premium for.

Gave up my iPad when I got an iPhone X. I reckon if I had to I could do my job just fine with that and a keyboard.
*XS Max rather. Big screen.

Look at me etc

Come on now don't do what the media do and mislead.... ;)

"While these threats are not considered as dangerous as traditional malware, they are becoming a much larger and more noticeable nuisance for Mac users,"

That, to me, is the key point in that article.

Can’t get away with you calling Windows unintuitive. They're much of a muchness, with small changes. At least Microsoft are 'uncool' enough to explain certain things to you in regards to using new laptops and that, whereas, from my experience Apple just expect you to know or go and find out yourself. The more intuitive claim is fallacy IMHO, it's all down to personal preference or familiarity.

The same apple who have people sat in stores showing them exactly how to use their new kit, for free? Free training sessions, free demos in store, free hands on help whenever you need it.

Now where does Mary go for help with her windows laptop which is not detecting her stuff properly or going a bit iffy?

Shhhh ;)

tbf, microsoft's tech help for Windows is pretty good. People just don't think to ask them.

So, either go to a physical store in this day and age or search the Internet for an explanation. Intuitive. 👍🏻

I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max which is brilliant, I create 4K video for my customers though, and I need the iPad for that. Also, it's great for apps such as ProCreate and Affinity

Imagine getting all tribal about a tech vendor in 2020.
I personally couldn't care less, I own Apple and Microsoft, but they're so close in truth that claims that one collapses at the drop of the hat and the other is infallible have me rolling my eyes. It's personal preference, and maintaining one as opposed to the other really isn't a world apart. Eye strain from one and not the other when Samsung provide the components for both sides is just a nonsense.

 Soz, couldn't resist haha!

I've not used MS' tech help much, but each time I have thyme been useless until you get past the initial "troubleshooters" it was years ago mind, so could well have changed for the better!

That's because they will be assuming that Mac owners will have more money to potentially exploit in one way or another given they forked out extra £100's in the first place ;)
