Buying Valentine's stuff for...

... other people or animals who aren't your wife/husband. What's the SMB consensus on this?

Would you buy a card or present etc for your son/daughter/dog you shower with?

I always thought that Valentine's Day was awful, but also for people who were in relationships already or people hoping to be in one.
What happened to valentine's day cards being secret? Is that still a thing?

Has it moved on from sending cards etc to your significant other to turning into "Love Day" from The Simpsons?

Nursery helped Mini-K make a card for us, which I think is quite cute, but I wouldn't expect Mrs K to buy a card from her for me.
If anything I'd class it as the continued commercialisation of a day that already brings misery to millions and millions to card companies.

What's the SMB's thoughts on all this then?

I bought our lass a card. I also bought her and my two daughters a small bunch of flowers each. I often buy them flowers when I’ve been away working for a few days anyway.

My 4 year old loves getting flowers off me.

You have a record of buying them something, that's fair enough. You don't go all out just for Valentine's Day

My niece took a picture of a laid out sofa with stuff for her two young daughters..
New PJs,. Hearts everywhere, balloons.. chocolate...

What a load of bollocks

That's ridiculous. I dread to think what she's like at Christmas if she's that mental for this commercialised bollocks

My ex bought my son a teddy and some chocolates. He was happy and it prob cost her about a fiver. Its not something I do but no harm done and my son was pleased.
