Unlikey, you can smash people over the head a dozen times with a machete these days and get away with it. Claiming you thought you were simply prepping the Sunday veg.
aye a nar but the machete guy retaliated after being strangled and having his hair pulled out by a copper. This incident was blatant attempted murder.

Certainly appears to be excessive force - cracking someone in the head with a weapon who is seemingly unarmed, particularly charging in like that and the nature of the incident.

An ordinary member of the public wouldn’t manage a self-defense argument, so can’t see what the officer could say to the contrary.

And how would you know the full story
The full story makes no difference though. He was running away from the copper who unlawfully smashed him over the head with his baton. What can’t you understand? You keep saying he was causing trouble, that makes not one iota of difference

Hes posted it previously I think. Go and have a look.

It makes a big difference to me, the copper might have used excessive force and get in trouble for it. If the lad was causing trouble I have no sympathy for him if he wasn't then I would have a lot of sympathy for him

Well it doesn’t to the law and that’s all that matters.

Only seeing one side of this. What provoked the police to be involved in the first place? Did that kid punch a horse?

What do you think is a much more serious problem?

A 16 year old kid kicking off at football or a Police Force that thinks it can take a run up and smash a baton over a child's head?

If the lad had been up to stuff, it would of been easy for that group of Police to simply arrest him, cuff him and take him for charging. Why didn't they do that?

I think the Policeman should be facing a jail sentence, he won't, worst case he will get the sack.

Shouldn't be a jail sentence at all, he might get sacked. If. If the copper gets jailed then you would have to jail anyone who threw a punch as a punch can potentially kill someone aswell

Not really that bothered, the cop will get into to trouble if they think it's excessive force, that's upto to the authorities

The full story makes all the difference. ‘If’ the kid had caused previous bodily harm and the police thought he was apt to cause further bodily harm then they are well within their rights to protect the public. Again ‘if’ he’s being instructed to stop and he doesn’t obey the order to stop the police are well within their rights to stop him.
Obey the police, comply with the orders they give in these situations. Full stop!

It's ABH at a minimum, easily GBH, both carry prison sentences and he should be locked up. He's a trained officer who knows the rules and consequences he could of easily killed or cabbaged the kid for life. He simply has no excuse or defence, he wasn't even provoked personally.

We'll try this again.

Exactly what level of 'causing bother' or 'not being innocent' is deserving of being hit across the head in such a way?
