F1 2020

what's the itinery for pre-season testing? two weeks at barca as per the norm?

hope williams are on schedule...

cut down, two 3 day tests. 19th-21st and 26th-28th. Also, they are now not allowed to put screens up in front of the garage unless they have the floor off the car. It's so spectators can see them.

I still don't get why they do pre season testing at a circuit they use for a race.

All it seems to do is ruin the Spanish GP.

they used to split it between barca & jerez at one time - presume what ever the reason is money will be behind it.

six days testing? almost worth asking what's the point?

if it was me, i think my car would have floor problems for all six days...

It's an effort to try and level the playing field. All it does is punish the smaller teams as they need the running time more than the big 3.

It would be interesting if position in the constructors table defined how much testing you got in the following pre season.

Unfortunately this would tempt teams to sandbag late on if there is nothing to fight for.

true but they need the facilities and safety rating. It also needs to be somewhere relatively close to parts to go backwards and forwards to the factories quickly and have as much dry running as possible. Places like Bahrain have the dry running, but it's too far to be backwards and forwards from.

They'll get through quite a lot of running in those 6 days, these cars will be very similar to what was raced in Abu Dhabi last month, I'd be surprised if the top teams were not hitting 150laps every day.

Floor problems is not removing the floor, the floor has to be off the car for them to put the screens up and that is not a quick job, especially with such limited running.

Its a shit track/layout for overtaking full stop. But in fairness, the temperature difference somewhat makes it a totally different track in testing compared to the race.

Each position in the constructures is worth millions.

She scrubs up well :)

Just to add to the list

Mercedes 14th Feb
Racing Point 17th Feb
i'm not expecting much change from last year in terms of outward appearance... be intersting to see if anyone else moves away from the newey high-rake towards the merc approach. not that, that in itself will change the look very much.

Probably not worth it’s own thread (haven’t looked if seb), but this from the Monte Carlo Rally this morning may interest peeps here... (no one seriously hurt somehow!?!?)

Ay caramba!

How are they still breathing?

not sure if just lucky, or testament to the safety standards in 2020 rally cars... probably a bit of both.

They must consider themselves fortunate that a sturdy tree wasn't in their path as they left the road.

I remember seeing a Ford RS200 hit a tree which pretty much ended the group B madness (and both occupants lives IIRC)

Hope Haas have a season like they had in 2018.
Hass is possibly the team I'm least interested in on the whole grid. I'm pleased they are there to make up the numbers - but aside from that, I don't think they bring very much to the sport. About from Gunther, of course
