Picard

Just watched the first episode. Wow! What a beautifully made first episode, settings and acting were just top notch. Quite nostalgic too seeing Picard again after so long.

My first reaction on seeing Dahj that she might have been Data’s daughter Lal. Maddox from TNG episode “The Measure Of. A Man” is spoken about, so wonder if we will see him. I wonder if the militarisation aspect h)need at, is the start of the fall of the Federation that we will see in Discovery series 3

I've seen largely mixed reviews and the majority thinking it's merely 'average'

For me - I bloody loved that first episode. Got slight tingles seeing Picard again. One of the finest Characters ever created, for me
Am looking forward to watching it, reviews I've seen are all average, certainly not slating it. Reviews after one episode are a bit premature anyway.

Like most first episodes of a new ST show it starts a bit slow, I thought it was quite disappointing.

Just watched it, not great, not bad.

If star trek didn't exist and that was episode 1 of a new show I'd be intrigued enough to keep watching. The hero being a frail old man long past his prime hasn't been done in any major sci-fi TV show I can think of off the top of my head (looking forward to a bit of "SRG, you forgot.... here)

I think the challenge will be giving information to new viewers without providing too much exposition for old fans.

Maybe a few too many winks to old viewers but I liked it, I want it to stand on its own and its done enough to make me hopeful.

Good back story/ set up episode. If a first episode pulls me into the story and gets me wondering about where it might go next I think it’s done pretty well.
For fans of TNG there were plenty of bits and pieces which make you delve into the memory to remember the references.
Good solid 7/10.

As a kid, I used to have stone fights against a lad called Picard in Wearside College car park that was behind our back gardens. He was a tit and I managed to clock one reet off his head at one time!
Ha! I did this against a kid named Shaun. Hit him right between the eyes. I used to have a drink with him in the clurrb years later and he still had the scar, and when he was pissed he used to say "you did this one you kernt" !

Thought it was all right, enjoyed it, but the premise to set it all away was a bit weak. Not a fan of all the stupid spinny fighting shit, mind, faintly ludicrous, I thought.
