Veteran Rail Passes

I work in the construction industry, I build the railways, schools , hospitals, sewers, airfields, prisons etc used by society. More people die in the industry each year than the forces. Any chance of a cheap ticket?

It’s still an extra third off the price of a ticket after 10... I’m not sure I’m getting your point
You said it was a railcard discount for single people

It’s not a third off, it’s just the price of all tickets for everyone from 9.30 (in an area where peak fares are far higher than anywhere else)

My next door neighbour spent his whole life in the Navy, then when he retired at 50 spent another two years as a part-time paramedic. He changes his car about every 3 months and his motorbikes monthly apparently. His aim is to have owned and ridden almost every bike possible. He deserves cheap rail travel as I don't think his service pension is enough.

Private sector workers! Back of the queue scum but please keep working until you're 67 as someone needs to pay for these Public Sector Pensions. :D

Read this. My take was it was a south east rail card. I’ve applied it to a ticket that would normally pay 30 quid for after 9:30 and instead it costs me 20

No, it is a third off. You take the off-peak price (which you correctly point out is lower than the peak price) and then you take another 1/3 off the price.

The peak restriction is not unique to the Network Railcard. It also applies to the Two Together card. Some other railcards have minimum fares before 10am, so they don't always give a discount / the full discount before 10am.
