Wearmouth Bridge Death Yesterday.

No surprise under tory rule.

Please don't make it political. My 26 year old nephew took his own life under Labour rule.

Still no idea why he did it, he didn't gamble or take drugs but obviously had some inner demons. At the inquest, the coroner said that he had also tried to do it before, which was another shock.

Just hope that the various campaigns can save lives going forward.

The daughter of lad we know took her own life at the weekend. Only 21. Awful.

As much as I'd like to - and probably will - lay this at the Tories door, I don't think politics is going through your head if you're in such a pit you think suicide is the only option

A family member under 30 went the same path. Bought his lunch and the tools to do it and took his life about an hour later. No idea why.

That's one of the hardest things if they don't leave a message why... It's the not knowing.

I was iny local just last week and a couple who drink in there reasonably often were at the bar having a drink.. they had their seventeen year old son with him who is never seen in the pub before and he was in dark suit and tie.. they had just come back from.a funeral of one of his classmates who took there own life the week before Christmas.. popular lad apparently and no inclination as to why at this moment in time.

It seems I hear about it every few weeks from.one person or another

Common sense answer,i truthfully don't think anyone in a dark place is wishing they had voted one way or another or for a different political party.

Missing the point a bit though. Cuts to various public services, benefits and long waiting times to get help could all be major contributory factors in pushing people over the edge but these could happen under any rule in theory.

So sorry to hear this my heartfelt sympathies for the family. Its an awful thing to have to (attempt) come to terms with. Parents will invariable feel guilt and balme themselves for not being able to prevent it. Often its a cry for help that goes to far. I'd rather not take my post further but its alarming how more frequent this is becoming (and not reported). Awful

I’d love to ban gambling or at least limit the amount each person can spend, but realise it impossible to restrict this way.
I’d assume personal debt plays a major part in suicide rates as you state.
Not sure what the answer is, but the way gambling is now surely has to change.
This happened to my Nephew started on-line gambling ,stole from his employers to try and recoup what he lost ,lost more in the casino what he stole and was on the verge of Suicide but owed up got arrested ended up in Crown court lost his job his dignity , hes turned a corner now still goes to GA so easy to happen to anyone

He did. His parents just didn't want everyone to know. Which is fine. Imagine buying a sarnie and a length of rope man.

I totally agree, but what I was saying was that politics itself won't necessarily be what people are thinking about at that point

I bought some beers and a chainsaw in Lidl once. No one questioned my motives
