Tricky to stop a young lad going to man utd when we are where we are, sad but true

Yep getting relegated and also not getting promoted last year are the main issues. Also looking above at the older levels you see only failure not even mediocrity and though the first team have improved we’re only 6th and it could go either way so what success beckons. No idea if Reid is good or pants but it’s not all his doing it’s the dysfunction and shirt sightedness of the whole club.

Aye this has been floating around for a while. Pretty sure one of my kids knows him through a friend. Canny LB from what I've heard

My son's best mate plays for the under 14s and sometimes the 15s, they seem to have very good teams but we are always going to be vulnerable to kids going to premier League teams whilst we are in league 1

Well what are we meant to do ? The lad is too young to be offered a contract. He is free to move wherever he wants.

Really fail to see what the Don and Mevthen have done wrong and I was probably the original person calling for Shorts head before you call me a happy clapper.

have a proper coaching and management team in place.

We’ve always been miles away from the big clubs but kids stayed when the academy was functioning properly
It's because we are in league one dummy

no it isn’t - players have An easier route to first team football here. Look at how many kids the likes of Leeds and Southampton blooded in in this league.

it’s because we’re ran like a clown car

The older sides are dreadful though and that’s the Next step. I know our income is savaged but it highlights the need for a medium term positive minded investor not what we have so the club gathers some hope.

Quite literally nothing a league one club can do to stop one of the big Premier league clubs coming in for them.

Unfortunately this! Don’t like paul reid but this is not his doing

Not sure if it would be different if we were in the championship 🤷‍♂️

Terrible that so many talented youngsters are leaving for next to nothing and most of them will be playing for Gateshead or South shields in 3 years time!

Unless you are very lucky you are going to get one player a season breaking through to the first team the rest move on.

The Academy is there to produce professional footballers not just SAFC players.

We're going to keep on losing talented players while there is no clear path for them to get a chance in the first team. Bali Mumba for example has stuck around with what i'm assuming is the promise that he would get a chance this season and instead he's been stuck in an abysmal U23 side that has 1 point from 15 games. We need to start finding loans for more of our youngsters or find a way of getting them blooded into the first team earlier or we're going to continue to lose players.

Someone will be along in a minute to tell us how the spectacular and sudden failure of the academy that produced 2 of the England side that got to the WC semi final is nothing to do with Donald and co and is merely coincidence
People might blame SD for many things but there is nothing they can do if the parents of a kid want to take him to different club
