Plane Etiquette

I dont really like flying. On my last work trip I nearly bolted out of Heathrow once i was already though security and waiting for the gate to be called. Was looking for a fire door and wanted to just walk out and not stop

I once had a baby on my lap and someone in front reclined the seat so we didn't have room to use our seat. He went in a right huff when the stewardess said he must keep the seat upright so the baby had enough room. It was a short haul daytime flight as well.
Tbf he’s got a right to go in the huff, he’s paid his money, he’s got a seat that reclines, there’ll be nothing in the t&c’s which says he can’t use it. As someone else said, it’s the airlines fault not his. Why should he have to change his comfort just because you had a baby on your knee?

Because it would be common courtesy not to squash a baby and mother just because you fancy tilting yourself backwards a few inches?

Agree its the airlines fault though.

You’d have thought there’d be an assumption that the seat wouldn’t squash anyone as the seats are there on the plane. Tbh. If you go on a plane that has reclining seats then you’ve got to be prepared for a seat to be reclined. Ffs, there’s people in the world getting blown up and drinking monkey piss yet some people think it’s so bad to have to sit behind someone who reckoned his seat , which he may have done for various reasons, maybe he had no sleep because he was tending to his dying mother and flying home, or he was rushing non stop around the world to be with a loved one

I didn't mean literally squash them, just restrict the space they had. I can imagine that being really uncomortable for the mother with a baby on her knee.

We could think up all kinds of ideas about the life of the person reclining the seat, but then likewise we should for the person sat behind too and give them some consideration.

And I understand that it is a trivial issue compared to big world problems, but surely we are still able to discuss such things?
