Arnold Schwarzenegger - Chester le Street Lad

Aye I saw that debate.

The lads btw in the photo above with Arnie in CLS, just in case anyone knows them are: left to right - Graham Hill, Arnie, Bruce Mahan (at the back), Gary Ramshaw and extreme right, just in picture is Michael Donahue. Looks about mid 70's. I was circa 16 and the other lads are 3 or so years older than me; so theyd be 19 or so.

I wonder if Arnie is still in touch with john Citrone or if he even remembers his nights in the Lambton Arms.... 🤔
I recognised Higgsy, Gary Ramshaw and after you mentioned him, Michael Donahue. I thought the lad at the back looked like Stevie Gardner, don't know who Bruce Mahan is?

lived there from 89 to 2009...previously Hilda parkand Hopgarth

A bit after my time (and Arnies).

I was born in 1968 and lived there until the mid-70s when we moved to the villages east of Durham. Went to Primary School there

Andrew Cunningham lived a few doors down, and I remember as a kid the Police coming to take him away. I had a toy Austin 1100 Police Car, and was over joyed when one pulled up just outside my house. I was so jealous that our neighbour got to ride in it.

1964 for me mate, lived on Rydal Rd on the farm, close to David Johnson ex nufc trainee

Used to be fast as owt, canny lad although haven't seen him in years. I was born '62 and went to the Herma so assume you did to? I lived over towards the motorway, Camperdown.
went to all 3, Herma, Roseberry and Park view ( dont ask)...Camperdiwn is lovely area mind.
David lives not far from the farm up on Chillingham Drive, didnt make it past non league and now sells paint..If ever a lad was gonna make it as a pro, would have had my vote...like lightening he was.

Aye I would have put all my money on him making it, played for our team at school a couple of times even though we were two years older and stood out then.

Cunningham used to still occasionally get into The Plough when he was in his mid nineties.
Died a week or so after reaching his 100th birthday.

Went to school with Stevie (his brother Dave died recently) but thought that it was maybe Dickie Dawson. Mahan is a name from way back and I never really knew him. He was pals with other people who I knew.
Rydal Road for me too. Were there woods at the back of the houses?
Rydal road eh? Do you know whacka - Stephen Wakefield? Lived in Rydal road with his brother and sister Helen when he was at his parents.
