Loans loans and more loans

For people making the point about getting loans being a bad idea because we end up losing them, this was perhaps a relevant point when we were in the premier league and losing some star performers like Rose, Welbeck etc. But while in league one and our aim is to get promoted, the fact is most players in a squad will need to leave if promotion is achieved anyway because of the jump in quality of league. Rather than give a player at this level a contract and then be stuck with them when they aren’t good enough for the league above, loaning players is safe as gives a player whose quality could be above this league

Personally think the money is being spent in a different way.
The big buzz is that fitness levels have massively improved and Parky has suddenly got them to click and all of a sudden we’re motivated and energetic doing a high press and making chances etc.
I don’t dispute any of that but perhaps, just perhaps, the squad have been offered a substantial win bonus or promotion bonus. If each of them were offered £100,000 if promotion was secured it would cost about £2M. With the wages most will be on now it’s not bad for four months graft. IMO it would be far better way of spending the “investment” than risking it on 1 half decent player or a handful of plodders.
All guess work as most posts on here are but it’s my theory for the remarkable upturn in form since “the Statement “

I thought this at the Donny game. No way 'fitness' improved that much in 3 days.

I dint give two shits about loans, would rather they are young players playing for their future career. I don't see people's problem.on this board with loans, if better players are available on loan , I'd rather sign tgem.then be left with a lot of shite on 2 and a half year contracts
loans are great and get you promoted if you dont sign crap

our record in the loan market fromMoyes onwards has to go down as some of the most incompetent recruitment in recent years by any team

there is some merit to this thinking, im pretty sure micky gray said they were all offered massive performance win bonuses and it made a massive difference to the team when reidy got them promoted

Its a worry the amount that are out of contract end of the season, we may need nearly a whole new squad

Likes of robson, if we are loaning him out give him a new deal first or he chance to do well again and sign somewhere else end of the season
Better than having a squad full of league one players we can't shift if we go up and if we don't most would probably choose to stay if the opportunity arose, not many that would get better offers.

We haven't got enough money to buy decent championship players that would do a job in this league and the championship if we went up.

On the other hand, do we really want to be paying money for league one standard players who would be totally out of their depth in the championship?

The loan market is a good option provided you get the right type of player and not ones just to add numbers.

Loans and short term contracts make a lot of sense. We need to get out of this godless division and then see where we are. Of course, we would need a good summer and we're conspicuously crap at that.

Rangers lad has clause to buy at end of loan...seems sensible ? Sorry to put a positive on the negativity!
Oh and we beat Lee Bowyers Charlton( can't be a bad thing) and another Championship side to his signature .So aye it's a mess.
Just get behind the lads and see where we go .

We have? Where? I can’t see any confirmation anywhere?

Maybe its cos weve got a good manager who knows who is gonna run through brick walls for us.Or we could just let the fans who now feel a bit shit try to find another reason for now playing class
Fair point marra

I don't think loans are an issue when they compliment the squad. I think the issue would be if loans are the bulk of the business.

It's a waste of money which we don't have much of.

Problem with Sunderland is we make our key signings loans when they should be permanent signings.

Loan signings are the equivalent to buying something on a high interest credit card. Eventually you'll get caught out if you don't manage your money properly.

Has he signed theres nothing on safc

do we actually have any young lads who are good enough to play in this league at the moment that's the question you have to ask yourself

I don't think any of us know, though it is worrying that very two managers now haven't really given anyone other than Hume (and Maja) a chance.

The counterbalance is that a) our managers have been under terrible pressure and that isn't a good context for focusing on youth - if your target is mid-table and you're delivering on it (i.e. if we get up, hopefully) then that's a bit more helpful. And, secondly, some of the youngsters that have been brought into the first team squad - Robson, Embleton - have had terrible luck with injuries.
