Sounds magic.

Loch Fyne used to be independent but got bought over about 5 or 6 years ago I think it was. They're now owned by either The Whisky Shop or The Whisky Exchange retailers, can't remember. Still a great shop to visit though, I have in-laws up by there.

Further down and across the street, one of the old guys from the shop opened his own place called Fyne Malts or something similar. He's worth a visit, knows his stuff and is happy to offer you a dram and a chat.

Cheers for that...that sounds more like what I’m after.
Bought from Loch Fyne online before and varying prices( odd bargain but some overpriced stuff) Might have a dodge in but Fyne Malts does sound good

Cant drink the stuff ..... Had a bad night when I was about 17 me and a mate after a night out decided to go back to his and get even more pissed, except all he had was some cheap whiskey so we bought 10 cans of coke from the Chinese take away then drank ourselves silly ..... I puked in his mam and dads brand new VHS player and all over there new carpet ...... We passed out in the living room and woke up about 6 with a banging on the door, it was his dad coming home from nightshift and we were still that pissed telling him to fuck off he wasn't welcome ..... I was kicked out and sent home (I only lived next door) My mam (no) woke me up about dinner time and made me go and buy flowers and apologise to my mates mam and dad ..... Never touched whisky since and even the smell knocks me bad.

Was the same for years off Glenmorangie. Went back to someone's after a session in the pub. Went down incredibly easily. Gave me the bottle as he didn't like it. Was swigging it on the way home. Woke up in a pool of vomit the next day in the living room. Luckily I was moving out a few weeks later 😂

Only just able to drink the stuff again in the last year or so. My advice - try whiskey based cocktails and work back up to neat

not touching owt till Feb....have consoled myself by buying Balblair 12 earlier

Amazon got it for £33 which is as cheap as ever seen it 🥃
Amazon have just delivered it. I'll have a couple tonight...
I bought it at the same time as a Tobermory 12 which is in my opinion a much more interesting dram, much more complex and full flavoured. its one of my new favourites I think, I am looking forward to my distillery trip later in the year to see if they have any distillery exclusives there

I've got the Tobermory 10, definitely recommend trying Tobermory to anyone out there looking for something different to Islay offerings.

There was a thread on here before christmas about whisky.
I mentioned the only one i had tried was Bells, and it was bloody awful, and was told its basically a cheap "mixer" whisky...ie shite. I had never touched it since.
But, one of the whisky's recommended was a one from Lidl, Ben Bracken. I bought the Strathspey (there is also a highland and an Islay), and i must say its really nice. I can drink it neat, it hasnt got that harshness that i remember Bells being like.

Thanks for the recommendation.

All this malt chat not half making me thirsty...but dry January it is.
Not stops me buying though so just ordered The Arran 10...been wanting to try it for a while

Genuine question but do you actually get drunk or is it just a taste then move on?
