Workout tracking/recording phone apps?

Can anyone recommend one? Preferably free but I’d be willing to pay up to £5 for a decent one.

I used Jefit for years but when I upgraded my phone it refused to work (wouldn’t let me log in, the “forgotten my password” link didn’t work and it wouldn’t let me sign up again).

I switched to Strong, which was fine while I was doing Stronglifts, but I’m about to start a 12 week programme of 4 sessions a week but it will only let me save 3 “custom” workouts without signing up for the “premium“ app at either £5 a month or £25 a year.

I want everything in one app, basically the functionality I’m looking for is:
  1. A library of exercises with a brief description/tutorial of each preferably a short video
  2. The ability to add these exercises to a custom workout program and save multiple programs
  3. Count your rest time for you
  4. For exercises like shuttle runs and battle ropes, I’d like it to act as a timer to count down 30secs/a minute etc
  5. I want it to keep track of my progress in the exercises I’ve been doing to see the progression of my squat/deadlift etc over time.

The phrase jack of all trades master of none comes to mind, if you expect an app to do all that for you.

1. Deadlift/squat/bench press with dumbells/shoulder press with dumbells/dips/pull ups are a good starting point.
Check out ScottHermanFitness on youtube for technique. What he doesnt know about training isnt worth knowing.
2. No need to overcomplicate workouts. Something like push/pull alternating days or a 3xbody full workout with the basis around compounds will work wonders.
3. I have been training for 15 years, I have never needed to count rest time. Start the next set when you feel ready. General consenus is take longer recovery when doing lower reps and shorter recovery on higher reps. If you must then the gym probably has a clock, or buy a cheap wrist watch. I would not want to risk me of somebody else dropping a weight on my mobile when its on the floor being used as a timer.
4. As above
5. Buy a notebook, but really the find details do not need to be obsessed over. generally you want to be increasing your weght and reps over the weeks and months. Doing more day to day isnt possibly all the time and isnt really worth noting to the nth degree.

Honestly, I know you probably think an app will help you reach your goals quicker, but it wont. The key to being successful in the gym is just keep turning up on your training days and keep pushing yourself. The finer details really do not matter a great deal.

That’s for the advice, but it’s nothing to do with reaching my goals quicker, it’s about having everything in one place. Jefit does everything I want, it just doesn’t seem compatible with the iPhone 11 (look at me etc) and Strong does everything apart from the exercise timer (I just use the rest timer to time my battle ropes etc) and only being able to store 3 custom workouts when the Terry Holland program I started tonight is based on 4 sessions a week.

I’m really just looking for a Jefit replacement
I used Jefit for 7 years in all without needing to resort to pen and paper or google YouTube videos in the gym before it stopped working for me.

No worries. Sorry I cant help with apps, as you have probably worked out im an old fashioned gym goer. One other thing I would say is no app or video can correct your form. For deadlifts especially it might be worth asking a gym instructor to give your form the once over. Deadlifting is one area where its best advised not to go heavy until form is spot on.
